Much like Tethra. I now have a toon on Asura.. Same name as this toon. Sertious. So anyone else wantin to get a little XI group going that'd be great.

Sometimes I think about returning to XI.
Then I think the sheer amount of third party programs needed to get the game up to a usable state. Not worth it.
I play the game just fine without third party programs.
Back in the day I would use Windower, but that's because it was a lot easier to see everyone's TP and coordinate for skill chains than to make a TP macro that might get missed in the chat...
Now that no one parties in FFXI, I find that Windower is completely and totally unnecessary. Many of the UI systems have been updated (recently in fact, about the end of 2013) and they have the option to play in windowed mode now so no more alt+tab accidents.
IMHO square could experiment with ffxi like this.
Have a server dedicated to pre abbysea content with the following.
Level synq.
Hp teleportation as it is now. to the major cities.
Hp teleportation to the Crags.
Leave all the Fov books but remove GOV so people don't leech xp or spam this.
Make better drops to RELIC,AF,MYTHIC items related so people don't take full 2-8 years making one , but also don't make them drop like candy.
Leave some of the lv 90 mobs but remove the ones in low level questing (pre75)
Double the xp gained from mobs, so people don't take a full year getting to 75 and get bored killing colibri while meriting.
Remove all caps from content.
Let people transfer to that server(optional, and loose everything related to post abbysea)
ETC ETC.
The game is bleeding (not dying) but tbh the game is 11 years old, and all ideas has been used .
IMHO Square should make this server while they work on a FFXI-2.
The server will be a way to keep the subs or regain the subs that lost with abbysea.

To those players who are saying they want to go back to the old FFXI, it appears you're in the minority:

Asking those that play the game, won't give you accurate numbers. They are obviously like it as it is now. Maybe if that question had been asked 2 years ago on that forum, then it might have been more accurate. To those players who are saying they want to go back to the old FFXI, it appears you're in the minority:

Also, it doesn't have to be the majority. If it was only 1 server to it, they wouldn't have to be 100k to make that 1 server seeing a average 3.3k online users as it was before.
EDIT: If I where to go back, it would have to be before the Ranger nerf. That one screwed up a job and woodworking.

You dont need someone to play FFXI with you, pretty much every mission in every expansion is soloable now, easily soloable.
For me This killed FFXI.
1.- Allowing the players lv 30 have access to abbysea. This destroyed the entire party system.
2.- The Abbysea "Atmas". With only the crour buffs, was enough for have been. Challenging battles in abbysea.
3.- The adoulin expansion was aimed for "ULTRA HARDCORES". Yes you will fail if you make content for only "One type of public".
If you make content only for casuals your game become really boring right ARR?
If you make Content for only hardcores your game become really tedious and boring Right FFXI Seekers of adoulin?
You need have content balanced for 8 man - 12 man - 18 man. Variation is the key.
