"A member has withdrawn from the duty."

Had to go through almost 30 minutes of this before our party finally made it into Crystal Tower tonight, and this isn't the first time it's happened.

People are spamming the withdraw button over and over again, trying to get into in-progress runs for quick tomes/loot, and screwing up everyone else attempting to start the duty. The purpose of the "in-progress" option is to help out incomplete parties, not to benefit you personally.

A couple suggestions that are fair and would discourage people from spamming withdraw:

    1. Don't show on the duty ready pop-up whether or not the run is in-progress.
    2. Add a short lockout penalty when people hit withdraw, maybe a minute or two, just to keep them from doing it repeatedly.

I thought they were gonna implement a penalty in 2.1 for those people who queue and leave multiple times.

I got 17 crystal tower pops followed by the "a member has withdrawn" message in a row.

Some kind of action needs to be taken.

Love it when people bail right after they enter then the people refilling bail as soon as they realized it just started. People need to just try to enjoy it more rather than doing stuff like this.

Honestly I doubt this will change. Since Yoshi-P decided to take the RPG out of MMORPG and turn this FF game into a simple online rail shooter in which you simply run the same content over and over for some gear until you are halfway braindead, and then you proceed to the next stage after the next update... what do you expect? This sick behaviour is provoked by design and such people are attracted like flies by this kind of progress through a game.

RPG has been taken out of the MMO's for a LONG time now. How much content would they have to create to become a true RPG in your eyes, though? I mean the story is still there, waiting to complete, and like a normal RPG, you can always beat it and play again. The mindless endgame grind is the norm for MMO's these days. Real progression does not happen until the next expansion. There are still people who choose to actually Role Play, though, but I do not think this is what you mean when you say RPG.

    And?

Rule #1: One million flies can't be wrong. I hope you like the taste.
Rule #2: you can't polish shit.

There was once a time when the brand FF was a synonym for JPRG innovation and market leadership in tems of story, graphics, music and gameplay. Now it's just about uninteresting walls of text with cheaply produced cutscenes where NPCs wave their arms 98% of the time, average graphics (btw, full DX 11 support was once told to have the highest priority after release), and copy&paste gameplay.
But if you like it, good for you! :-)

"JRPG" and "innovation" have never belonged in the same sentence. Not ever. As far as "uninteresting walls of text" ever "good" RPG in history has had those. Nowadays, people are just too impatient to read it. FFXIV has both better and more story than most other MMOs excluding FFXI combined. WoW had almost no real story (other than flavor text and a backstory) for years, and neither did most other MMOs I can name. I'd also disagree with "the cutscenes are cheaply produced." The level of elaborateness of the cutcenes is completely appropriate with the kind of scene that needs to be depicted. Do you need like laser beams and explosions, airships flying everywhere in the background of every cutscene to consider them of acceptable production quality?

You can always RP just as much as you could in FF11. Open the party finder, leave a comment that says "RDM/WAR LFG", and sit in town for 6 hours.

Replacing your argument with crassness doesn't make it any more compelling.

What are you talking about? The concept of doing the same stuff to get gear/items is how things have been since the beginning. Want that rare drop in the RPG? Gotta keep fighting monsters until the rare one appears and MAYBE you'll get the drop. Right off the bat, games like Earthbound and Final Fantasy Tactics come to mind. If there's something wrong with that design, then there's something wrong with every video game that has an RNG system (particularly RPGs). It's sort of pointless to single out FFXIV on that matter, wouldn't you agree? RPGs are generally not linear progression, and often do require repeated activities to make progress. If that's unusual to you, I really don't know what to say lol.
