    Shout out to the maintenance folks, from a former maintenance technician

    Maintenance is a thankless job.

    This is something I was told and learned firsthand in a previous life as a comm maintainer. So with that perspective and also just as a player of this game I just wanted to say "thanks" to the dev team, the support folks, the ops folks, and yoshi-p for leadership.

    I personally was not affected by the whole housing lottery failure, but judging by how this board isn't lit up with any mention of housing at the current moment I can only assume things went well.

    I'm no one in particular. Not a streamer or high end raider or anything, just a fellow player. I'd encourage my fellow game players to put to words and express their thanks if you are feeling satisfied with what they deployed last night. Being responsible for the gameplay experience of millions of subscribers can't be an easy job. These boards were flooded with complaints in the days following the lottery failure, we should think about how it reflects on us as a player base that these boards don't have any threads at the top of the category saying "thanks for fixing the issue."

    The night is late but there you are, nothing but the hum of 2000 fans whirring to keep you company. You toil away watching the log screen scroll by about as quickly as that cup of sweet black liquid you have been cradling empties. The only thing here working about as hard as you tonight is the house coffee machine. How long hath it been? Hours? Days? Weeks? Time really flies does it not? Today is the big day though! It is alllll going live tomorrow. The moment those red lights turn green and the patch goes through it will all be working again. Nothing shall go wrong.. oh no here come those nerves again. Shoot! I need more coffee.

    Silliness aside, am most content with how this was handled. Reasonably expedient deployment for the fix and thus far tis all working as intended.

    Barely, they did the work from 11am to 6:18pm on a Monday. And a month delay with a week holiday in the middle.

    As someone who has done this on a global basis for some of the largest airlines and airports in the world, I would be impressed if they had of fixed it under the SLA I was under. A Mission Critical fault, and I needed to have it working inside 2 hours, or if not, all hands on deck to ensure all efforts were made to get the planes flying again. 20 minute updates for the management, and SLA penalties that would make your eyes water.

    It's nice it's fixed at all, but I am surprised it took a whole month to workout they needed to replay the data then perform that task.
