Error [2002] the lobby server connection has encountered an error

I live in the Dallas area and have FIOS too and was getting the 2002 error for hours. I found a workaround for the time being though. I installed a VPN client Spotflux and now I logged right in no problem. It should help until Verizon or Square gets this sorted out.

I tried using the VPN and SE said my account is suspicious >_>

Are you not using the one-time password? If you aren't I've heard it'll get grumpy if you log in via an unusual IP (which would definitely be the case with a VPN).

After you change your password, it should let you in. Worked for me, anyway.

Alright I discovered something else. While I was in dungeon, I was also in Skype call. When I had it as my active tab, the Skype call was all choppy. I alt-tab out, and everything is clear again. Something is up with the client to be throttling ping.

Able to play on the JP servers but not my own. Been going on since yesterday for both myself and my husband. I've put in a ticket but I don't expect an answer anytime soon and am not optimistic that it will solve this issue. We're going to try Spotflux because it's his two days off and we're trying to level together to catch up to our friends. ><

Is anyone aware if SE has any idea if this is going on for so many people?


Note: Spotflux just let my husband on, I am DLing it now. Other than changing your password, this is a painless solution to a problem that we're not entirely sure is even being addressed.

Also in DFW w/ FiOS - reporting in with the same 2002 error. Seems I can connect to JP data centers, but not Primal (where my server is). Error 2002 over 24 hours now.

Find it hard to believe this is a Verizon issue when this error has been encountered by users all over since the game was released.

I have to ask why I can log into other data centers and create characters and play but not the data center where my character is. Seems like if it was my ISP (I also use FIOS) I would not be able to log in anywhere.
