New Class - Skinner + Leatherworking Nodes!

Now for someone who likes to level up all my crafters at a similar rate so as they are all mutually beneficial to one another, the one thing that's really infuriating me is the scarcity of skins/sinews etc, and the complete over-farming of mobs which drop them. The simple fact is that leves do not provide enough of what you need, so Leatherworkers are completely shafted with regards to cost/time when compared to other crafters.

So I propose the introduction of 'Skinners', who can gather from nodes such as animal carcasses strewn around. They would be able to gather skins, sinews, blood etc - basically anything needed for crafting which requires killing a creature to obtain.

I think this would be win/win. Leatherworkers would be able to craft at an acceptible cost in both gil, and time, and mobs which are heavily farmed, will be freed up to people who really need them for quests.

Dunno about you but I was able to farm up more than enough skins to level my LTW from 1-50 in a reasonable amount of time. I've never run into an instance where things were overcamped to the point where I couldn't reliably farm mobs. Droprates can be a bit unpredictable, but it's not as if it takes a whole day to farm up a stack of skins or anything.

Farming for aldgoat leather for example. There were at least 15 people doing the same. When I finally got to kill some goats, the skins weren't dropping. It took me over two hours to get 20. At that rate, yes it would have taken a whole day to farm up a stack.

You could say I was really really unlucky - wrong place, wrong time / poor drop rate, but it needn't happen in the first place! There are also people who need those mobs for quests, so if I was annoyed, then surely they were too.

Skinning nodes would solve this for everybody.

Dropsrates have long since been adjusted already. Aldgoats for example can easily drop up to 4-5 skins per kill now. One can storm though the entire area, especially on bard, in a matter of minutes and have a quarter stack just from doing that.

This is the very reason prices on everything have gone down the drain immensely...

Hate to say it, but "skinner" would be the most pointless addition to the game ever, while people would still need to get it to 50 somehow.

    A clear 100% no.

I think it's ridiculous to say that getting a gathering class to 50 is difficult. Hell, in the space of 7 days I got my Miner 31-50, my Botanist 24-50, and my Fisher 6-50. Even if you only play a few hours a night, its not too much of an issue.

The fact remains that regardless whether beasts now drop 4+ skins per kill, getting those kills in the first place can be a pain if the area is heavily farmed as I described a couple of posts above. This is probably why leatherworkers have it significantly worse than other crafters if you don't have leves to burn through.
