    Job System Suggestion

Weapons being locked to jobs is not a bad thing, what they should do is add a more variety of weapons to lock to said class.

For example, hopefully at R50 a Gladiator can pick to be Paladin or Warrior: Paladin would equip swords, maces, daggers etc and a shield, Warrior will equip two weapons (Dual Wield).

Archer for example will be able to pick between Musketeer for Guns or some other long range weapons depending on the path they choose. That would solve the issue of classes being locked to weapons.

As for how the "Jobs" such as Paladin are acquired, I think there should be specific skills and abilities you should equip before it is unlocked and you will start at 50 but the max lvl for these "Advanced Jobs" can be increased to say 75.

For example, Gladiator gets ro R50, to unlock Paladin he will need to equip Cure 2 and maybe some other skills so to become a Paladin you must have GLA at 50 and CONJURER at 30. Once the required skills are equipped you become a paladin and you can then rank up to 75 to learn new Paladin ONLY skills.

Another example, to become a Warrior, you will need GLA at 50 and various attack skills from the dual wielding PUG. So once you have R30 PUG and R50 GLA you can unlock the dual wielding WARRIOR at R50 and rank that WARRIOR up to 75 to learn new WARRIOR ONLY skills!

    To give more examples:

Red Mage would need maybe THM at 50 and GLA at 30. Dark Knight would be LNC or MRD at 50 and THM at 30.
Ninja would be PUG at 50 and GLA at 30. BLack Mage would be THM at 50 and maybe CONJ at 30, WHM is CONJ at 30 and THM at 30.

Etc! Use your imagination! At the end of these requirements, advanced jobs will be unlocked at 50, but you can rank them up to 75 to learn the class and its specific abilities

I'm thinking that's how they'll do it. I'm actually just now doing the whole 'make-your-own-paladin' thing by mixing a little GLA with CON ^^
Which brings me to the question: would they be able to start advanced classes at rank 1 when classes like paladins and red-mages already exist through ability-mixing? I hate to admit it, but I'd kinda miss leveling an advanced job from rank 1 to the cap... It gives you the feeling that the class is more unique when you learn to play it from the beginning; starting at rank 50 would make it seem like your old class--just with a few new abilities :/

Also, I like your idea of needing a combo of classes at certain ranks to unlock the jobs It seems very appropriate for matching advanced jobs to the dynamics of the current ability system!

as you said it would be very difficult to start advanced classes at rank 1 when plds and rdms already exist because of ability mixing so I figured the next best thing would be to increase the cap for the advanced classes to give some sort of a feeling of actually developing your ultimate class, because i think we all agree that it would suck to chose pld at R50 and have that pld just stay at R50, very lame.

Hmmm... *light bulb moment!* the cap will have to be raised then ... right ? SE wouldn't add three abilities to GLA and call it an advanced job ... right?

    ...

I really hope they don't just hand the galka another dagger and call it a ninja...

The thing is if weapons were locked to jobs its because the job is locked to the class and a class is a weapon specialisation. Doesnt make a lot of sense for a class called "sword user" in japanese to use a mace. Still they could add more damage types to the weapons themselves and add more damage type variety to their weaponskills.
