Jobs are the same level as your class, you don't have the level them. Once you unlock them they are the same rank as the corresponding class. If you like tanking too you can just play PGL, you don't have to play MNK. ^^

But the new dungeons are going to be balanced around a party playing the appropriate jobs, if I'm not mistaken. I already tank current content fine on my PGL; I'm just worried my LS is going to be losing a tank going into the new content if I don't level GLA up.

I can see monk as possibly one of those combo jobs where you have to have both Thaum and Pug leveled. Think about it, both are in Uldah, a tradional Monk was religious right? So are Thaums. Seems like a possible choice for unlocking Monk

They said that combo jobs would come later and one of them being Red mage and maybe dark night so no you only need to level up pug to get monk.

That makes 2 of us! ^^ I'm satisfied with PGL for the "I wanna punch stuff!" role. IMO having THF at first batch would be much more interesting endgame-wise than having MNK.
