This system is far from perfect, but I believe it would eliminate RMTs permanently. So, what does everyone think?
I agree that it's far from perfect... It's about as far from perfect as one could possibly get.

I am absolutely against this idea. As the leader of my FC, I hold all our FC housing money that has been donated to me in one of my retainers. That gil is strictly for housing, untouched, and the value is updated on my Company Board everyday. Almost weekly I have large chunks of gil donated to me from dedicated members. Last week I had 5 members donate a total of 2.1m for our house via direct trade or moogle mail. I am not an RMT, but if SE monitored anyone who trades like this I could be targeted and possibly banned just because we legitimately made a bunch of gil and it was all traded to me? No way, not cool.

B4 you say "Just keep gil for Housing in the FC company chest".....yeah right. I can't even count how many times I have recruited a new player, and I WATCHED them go directly to my company chest and when they found out new members have a restriction set to not loot, auto-leave the FC. I hand out stuff from our chest to new players sparingly, and have no problem crafting things to help people out. However in my experience, I make new members wait to prove they aren't just trying to steal from our FC and leave before I upgrade their Rank to allow them full access to the chest. There is a good handful of people that went out of there way to gather/craft/farm many demanded items to have whenever we want. I'll be damned if someone who just joins the FC will rob us of hundreds of thousands of gil.

Oh yeah, I'm against the OP idea also. No one likes money caps. We all want more!!!

really the simplest solution to RMT is instead of banning their accounts, ban the registration key of the entire copy of the game they use. you ban the toon they currently use it takes them 30 seconds to create a new one.

To be fair, those are not people you want in your fc anyway.

And I do not see a reason why you should not keep the gil in your fc chest.
Not even with your given arguments.

Access to the gil can be restricted, every member can see on the spot how much there is in there and everyone can see all transactions being made.

They make insane amounts of REAL money. They earn so much money that even if they need to reobtain an account every day they are in the plus.
Why do you think you have a limited number of characters you can make by week? Because RMTs hoarded money by repeating a handfull of low level quests, ditching the money somewhere delete all low levels and start anew.

Oh this "When people stop buying gil".
There ALWAYS will be people that are willing to pay real money for digital "swag" (boy do I hate this word).
I could understand why some people buy gil in FFXI or Gold in WoW, I never would do it though.

I don't understand the need to buy gil in FFXIV. Unless you are super clumsy mosts crafts will earn you more gil than you spend. That + Dailies and normal dungeons give you good gil rewards. Gil bought Armor is 95% of the time worse than any drop

So what happens if you decide to leave your FC?

They get to keep all the money you accumulated?

    No thanks.

This is beyond a terrible idea. My money is my money and that money is only my money. This system seeks only to take all of my money. It's worse than socialism gone utterly wrong.

RMT will always be around in any game that is popular. There are two ways to get rid of RMT completely.

    1. Create a game that no one wants to play.
    2. Remove currency and all player to player trading

OP's idea is COMPLETELY HORRIBLY by the way, like no part of it is even remotely decent. I don't understand why people buy gil in this game anyway, it's like no reason to.

Insanely low gil caps? An archaic communist distribution system? A feudal lord/serf relationship with FC leaders and members?

    COUNT ME IN!
