    Freeze Screen Issues

    hi,

i need help lately ive been experiencing freeze issues with the game. Freeze Screen issues where in the game freezes, you can move the mouse but everything is not moving you have to wait like 3-5 mins then it suddenly went fast forward. cant even alt tab, im not sure if this is lag, but if it lags i can still move my character even though there others cant right?

    Thanks in Advance

It's called "Graphical Lag". Your GPU is becoming overloaded either due to heat/failure/memory/multi-tasking/etc.

    Questions:
    OS/Make and Model of Computer?
    Make/Model of GPU/CPU/Chipset?
Are you updated to Latest Drivers?
Anything special about your set up (3 monitors)?
Has it always been like this?
    If not, what changed?
What's your CPU/GPU load look like in game?
    Are you hitting 100%?
    How hot are you running?

    Solutions:
    Defrag your HDD
    Update your drivers
Make sure you have little to nothing running in the backround
Check for any updates to your OS, BIOS, Drivers, etc.
chkdsk your HDD and sfc /scannow
Also check your RAM and make sure it's not failing (mdsched.exe)

Report back with updated information and your findings.

I been having the exactly same issues for months. Been trying everything I can think of and nothing is working. I have ran ram testing for 6 hours, all drivers are up to date and have stress test my entire pc everyway I can think of. Nothing is helping. I get random screen freezing for 3 to 5 mins too. Of course my mouse still works when this happens just like u.

Something is bottlenecking the rendering. You can move the mouse because it's what's called a "hardware pointer". You are locking up because of something. Heat, failing card, bad driver load are the most common ones.

    AT YOUR OWN RISK:

You can try to OC the GPU/CPU to see if it lightens up. If you have heat problems though, you will more than likely fry something. I would attempt every other TS step before going to this one.

Thanks for the reply. Im 110 % sure its not a heat issue. My rig is water-cooled,I can run this game for 8 hours straight and both my cpu and gpu will never go above 55 deg. I have try all NVidia driver for the last 6 months with no results. I have stress this my pc inside and out, from intel burn test to memtest. U name it I have try it.Its all happen at random times.Im more feeling its FFXIV that's causing the issue. When this happens and screen freeze. I would be still on team speak and my party/FC member can see the red bar next to my name as if im lagging out. I don't know if b/c of my freezing it can act as if im lagging out which in term can put the red DCing bar next to my name. Its annoying as heck since it happens so random.

Can you ALT-TAB out? Are you playing full screen or windowed? Have you tried both to see if the issue goes away?

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but check your drivers. FULLY uninstall the old ones (GPU drivers don't just go away even when you tell them to. You have to scrub your machine to get rid of them) and update to the latest driver package.

Check your GPU/CPU/HDD loads too when you have XIV up. Something is running full tilt and causing issues. That or you have packet loss, but from the sounds of it I don't think it's a latency issue. The problem seems local to your machine. Just gotta narrow down what.

When this happens, I can ALT TAB out np. get on my desktop and do w/e I want. I can go back to FFXIV too (screen will be still froze tho until it decides to unlock itself. When I do a driver install I usually just check the "Clean install" under advance install settings. My pc specs are as follow. I7 860, pny gtx 670, 8gigs of ddr3 and SSD drive. I have monitos running to show my cpu load and gpu load while im gaming. My cpu load is about 33 to 45 % while my gpu load is about 60~ %, which I cap my fps at 60. If I remove my fps cap then gpu will hit 99%. Thanks for taking your time to try and help me with this.

It has nothing to do with your computer.. it's packet loss. There's nothing you can do about it, we've all been dealing with it for months. Download WTFast or Pingzapper until SE fixes it.

Wow, it runs to 99% if you don't lock your fps. Odd that it doesn't try to dynamically ramp the GPU load depending on current need. It sounds like you have to force throttle XIV from running rampant.

When you alt-tab out and back in, do you see it want to load? Are you running full screen, or full screen windowed? Dual monitors? Have you tried to run it without the throttle?

Graphical lag is different from latency. Read the thread. His client is freezing completely (client will not execute any commands. If it was latency, he could tap abilities and watch the GCD go off and move around. This isn't the case).

When I alt-tab and try to go back into the game sometimes it would take sometimes before it would let me. Most of the time when im back into the game from alt tab then the game would be running again as if Im just waiting for it to resume without alt-tab. I run just one monitor and full screen.Im going to try and uncap my fps and see if it stop it from happening. Its just so random that some days it wont happen and other days it does. With most games I play, gpu is always at 99% load( fps uncap) I just cap fps with FFXIV b/c I like to afk a lot and don't see the need to run the game more then 60 fps. Helps even lower the heat from gpu.
