Was fun while it lasted. This singular feature has really got nothing to do with WoW, it's just a component they use to improve planning in battle. Guild wars 2 is going to use ti heavily too because there's no PC targetting, if you want another example.

No. You need a GCD system to make such a mechanic viable. We do not have that in this game
we have timers and we have no queue.

Mages are already burdened with very harsh cast times in this game and very few Instant spells and
the instants they do get are not direct nukes or heals and they are on very long timers. Many instants have crazy long animations - Blood Rite is maybe the best example of just how crazy.

Picking a spot on the ground in the mass battles we currently fight ? You are kidding, surely ? Horrible idea, sorry.
I don't get how any of this affects an AOE system? Why does a GCD need to be in place for it to be viable? What do the current cast times of spells have to do with it? (We already know they're scrapping the current toggle-aoe in exchange for actual AoE spells)

What do animations have to do with it either? They could make new animations (they already have done for some things) if they situation calls for it.

What difference does picking a spot in the 'mass battles' we have make? Either you target something in an area and hope it hits as much or as little as you want, or you select the area and know what's going to happen.

    I don't get it.
