    Decent (Hopefully!!) Tips and Tricks for WHMs

    Hi all, I would like to share some tips and tricks I have learned throughout my journey as a WHM in Eorzea, I will be dividing these TaT into separate categories for easier reading .

    4 man dungeon-ing (Farm Mode aka I am doing this just for Mytho)
    Note: The below tips will work better as the tank's equip gets stronger, if the tank has low equip, you're most likely relegated to heal duties for most of the dungeon run.

    1) Divine Seal + Regen = WHM's answer to SCH's healbot.
    Throw a DSed regen on a tank, and you're free to DPS until the regen runs out.

    2) Enemy Count >2 = HOLY. Holy is awesome, tell your tank to overpower/flash a few times, and you can easily Holy 3~4 times before pulling aggro, and this will speed up the trash killing considerably.

    3) I Holy-ed the last pack until OoM, what should I do?
    Rather than asking the entire team to "wait for my MP", just ask them to continue on to the next pack, but DO NOT start DPS/healing, you are still considered Out of Combat even if your peers have already started slaughtering the trash. /Dance until you feel your mana is sufficient, or until the tank is about to die, and resume on your duties.

    Do keep in mind the above is for when you're overgeared for the dungeons, and just want to pass them ASAP to get your delicious Tomestones, if you're just starting out the end game content, focus more on healing, and slowly branch out to DPS once you are more comfortable/acquire better gears.


    8 Man Raid Content (with a SCH partner)
    This one's easy, your roles are clearly defined, he's the MT healer, you're the raid healer.
    1) Leave 80% of ST healing to the SCH, but keep Regen on the MT always.
    Of course, if you know a big hit's coming (Mountain Buster, Garuda Kick etc), please throw a Cure/Cure II for the MT.
    The main reason for acting so "selfishly", is to conserve your MP, usually bosses Auto Attacks aren't that damaging, thus with your regen, the SCH can easily handle any additional damage together with his/her pet.

    2) AoE Healing (Cure III vs Medica vs Medica 2)
    Medica 2 should be your go to AoE Heal Spell, this is because all big AoE damage (Geocrush, Tank Purge, tumults) are scripted, and they WILL NOT happen in chains, thus giving the regen effect from your medica II ample time to heal everybody up.
    The 1 special case I can think of is Titan HM/EX, Geocrush is triggered during phase change at certain hp %, thus it is highly possible to have Titan perform his Geocrush right after his Tumult attack, if you are aware the Titan is close to entering the next phase, thus instead of Medica 2, Cure III should be used instead to bring everybody up.


    8 Man Raid Content (with a WHM partner)
    1) Double Regen
    From my experience, having 2x regen on a MT 24/7 ensures you do not have to cast Cure constantly on the MT, you can probably get away with just casting Cures every 2 GCDs, thus achieving the objective of conserving your MP.

    2) Avoid Stepping on each other's Toes.
    Communicate and designate who should be casting the big AoE heals when it's required, if there are no communication, overhealing (double Cure III), or underhealing may occur.

    That's all I have for now, what I feel are not "well duh!! everybody knows that!!", and I hope this will help some of you to be a better healer .

    When healing a WAR, i like to put stone skin & regen, then switch to cleric stance and DPS a bit (when the fight isn't too dammage intensive).

    If you have time when DPSing, placing a stone skin once in a while is usually good, and don't forget to use Shroud of Saints when you are à 3/4 of mana (1/4 used)

    If you use Shroud correctly in speed running, you won't be OoM for a long while (maybe never if mobs die fast enough) even when abusing Holy. You run to the pack, Holy 4-5 time, Shroud (and remove Aggro ^^) and continue to next target.

    Quick tip/ Sneaky cheat....

    Divine Seal has a instant/shorter animation than Cure and CureII...this means if you're mid-cast on these and realise the tank is taking a bigger beating than you anticipated, as soon as your cast is done, you can fast click DS (POST Cure cast, during its animation) and get the benifits of the buff for when the cure hits?

    It is absolute perfect timing....but I have almost nailed to a 99% success rate now....thats what you get for action register on animation end

    interesting, still a stronger cure even though without ds initially?

    Just to throw this out there as possibly unknown as well, if you're in a lower level dungeon and will be helping by sleeping a mob or two, right at the exact end of the casting you can also tag the mob with aero. So he sleeps and aero ticks away, without having to cast aero, GCD, then sleep casting.

    Same concept as Cure then slipping in DS before the cure "hits". I haven't tried this one yet, but sleep + aero tag I do every time.

Even though I'm tempted to say you're mistaken, seeing as virtually everything else takes the cast finishing into account, rather than the animation. It's why you can do silly things like hit trash with Holy even though they moved 15 yalms away from your position by the time the animation finishes. :/

    Not using Regen (I'm assuming you mean that by saying Renew) is like losing 30% of the reason to be a White Mage. If you're having aggro problems with it, your tanks suck or you should stop casting it as they pull, waiting for a Flash or Overpower at least before putting it up.

    Yeah, Regen is an important, if not vital, part of a WHM's healing repertoire, however, you need to use it wisely. Because it's such a hate magnet, you must not cast it before the battle, but only after the tank has pulled the mob and got hate on himself. Then feel free to keep Regen up on him - it cuts down on spamming Cure/Cure II. Wise tanks will also remove Regen themselves if it's still active on them when they go to pull the next target.
