Trying out PvP for the first time...

    Dear SE,

Yesterday I tried out PvP for the first time with a friend. It looks like it would be really fun! But my friend and I pretty much died instantly, as we had little to no experience or expectations of how it would play out. I will admit, I laughed so hard for about 10 minutes at how funny it was that we died so fast.

The people in our parties, and oppositions, had abilities, PvP gear, etc, that made us look completely silly. I felt bad for our party members, really, though they were quite generous and gracious in defeat.

Would it be possible to, perhaps, group people of a similar rank/ability level in matches rather than put noobs with overmelded-champions in all their PvP glory? Is there a way to do this that we couldn't work out? Or do I just have to die multiple times until I get enough marks and ability point things to actually rank myself up? Because that doesn't sound fun...

I tell anyone I see in pve gear to queue for lv 40 matches til they at least get their left side i70 pieces, not because I'm a prick, but because its just good advice. You gain the needed ranks for your pvp skills that way too, and its a lot more fun playing vs people in similar gear/skill situations, rather than getting crushed in the 50 bracket.

I second this, although the usual response is a snarky attitude-filled refusal no matter how nicely I put it

    Haha,

Thanks for the pointers. We did a level 30 and a level 50 battle, assuming the 30 was for beginners. Apparently not! Hahaha. Still, I generally don't think the way it is set up right now is "beginner friendly."

I tried PvP when it came out(1-2 days after the patch) and it wasn't bad, i won 7-10 times in a row but then never touched it. I tried it again some time later, when people wewre already rank 30, knowing jumping bug and using op jobs(sch smn ahem ahem) and i hated it A LOT. Then, yesterday, i tried it just for fun, and wow, i liked it, again, quite a bit, i won sometimes, i lost sometimes, but hey, it's normal. Then i tried it today again, and, of 15-20 matches i won 1 or 2. The problem is, i don't know what went wrong, i'm a war, full 90 with wolf cuirass hq, i'm attacking the healer the whole time, trying my best to do some damage, stunning and holmganging and so on, but we lose, every time, our healer dies and gg. Now i don't know if it's my fault, or i'm terribly unlucky or what, but i would appreciate some advice. Tomorrow i will put 30 points in str, craft the full set and use mrd, maybe something will change
Sorry for bad eng and thx for attention

Check out the healer's PvP skill then you will know why. You have to swich target between healer and DPS quite a lot in today's game. Unless you are BB who just bust people in 2 shots.
