    Machinist request/ideas thread!

    Gonna start this off by saying that I feel there is a high probability of Musketeer being added to the game at some point(If of course SE follows what they did with Arcanist). It having had a guild in version 1.0 but no ability to join it/no playable class at that point. That being said, after some late night debate with my FC bros over what classes and jobs could end up in ARR in the future and what their roles would be, we started brainstorming over Musketeer and what could come along with it.
    We arrived at the conclusion that Musketeer would be the base class. A gun or gun-blade(First boss in Pharos Sirius uses a Gun AND blade @.@)using ranged DD similar to bard. Following on with that theme we started tossing ideas around on how the class could branch into jobs and arrived at Corsair and Machinist. Now what I personally would LOVE to see is Corsair picking up more party support abilities with a different flavor to bard, and Machinist adding some damage abilities, some utilities and a pet. See how Corsair worked in FFXI for inspiration on how Corsair could go in ARR. I could go on all night on the things we discussed for Corsair, but my true love is for the possibility of Machinist. I'll share some of the things we came up with on that below.

    Machinist
    -Ranged DD
    -Pet class using Automaton pet
    *Either a couple different pets to summon ala SMN, or a customisable pet for different roles ala Puppetmaster in FFXI
    *One of us suggested a mini ADS style pet for ranged DD, a Clockwork Soldier/Knight for tanky pet or a scaled up Mammet with customisable bits and bobs.
    -Materia infused shots(Think Mustadio from FF:Tactics)
    *This I thought was a cool schtik with Mustadio in FFT: Him charging his gun with crystals to shoot lightning/fire/ice etc.

    Corsair
    -Ranged DD
    *Less focus on damage, more party support.
    -AOE party buffs
    *Think bard. We couldnt settle on whether or not we'd like to see a return of the dice rolling mechanic, or a more static buff system.
    -Elemental shots
    *Some of us really wanted a return of the Elemental shot system, but personally I'd rather see that sort of deal on Machinist(Materia/Crystal infused gun mechanic).

    After tossing these ideas around we eventually moved on to how SE could slip Ranger in as well. Following on with that design angle, one could see them toning Bard back on damage, giving it more party support, and then adding in a Ranger branch off of Archer with full damage capacity and little to no party utility. It would be nice to see what combos a party could make by mixing and matching Bard, Corsair, Ranger and Machinist.

    We ended up moving on to things like Dark Knight branching off of gladiator(Think fallen knight, THM sub-class instead of CNJ, shield used as an off-hand weapon instead of defensive mechanisim), moving the dagger-style 1H swords already in-game over to their own classification in order to sneak Thief in etc. Thats's for another post in the future maybe. Please, share your thoughts, opinions, suggestions, elaborations. Start putting a bug in SE's ear about the direction we'd like to see these classes go in the future, if at all.

    Personally I'd prefer to see Puppetmaster as a Pugilist job, but only because I want to punch things while my automaton is also punching things. Twice the punching!

    But otherwise, I think I remember hearing a while back that it'd be difficult to pull off a pet job branching off a non-pet class because I think they'd have to have something like a built-in reduction to damage dealt to account for the pet's damage?
