Lag/Latency vs Rendering on PS3

Hi.

Background: I play in Western Australia and when i connect on my PS3 my connection strength according to FFXIV is excellent. Yet when i play there are times so many things take time to appear or delayed reaction. Loading screens take a while and party members are normally miles away by the time i get thru the loading screens.

I am not sure if this is lag or rendering issue or a mixture (or are they interrelated).

Question: So is it possible that my "lag" is really just the PS3 taking longer to render AOEs, boss spells being cast etc on my screen that i see. Thus by the time they are on screen i am already in trouble.

Would not an even small delay in rendering in boss fights cause the grief of appearing to be lag.

If it is partially rendering issue then hopefully the PS4 version will fix this.

A little trick Ive learned playing XIV:

1- turn off effects for party members and other PCs in your character options menu. You dont really need to see everyone elses effects- just the boss and your own effects (if you want).

2- connect your ps3 to an ethernet connection. Helps when wifi drops come abound.

3- Turn off character names. You dont need them, really. especially not your own name. And party members have their own list, so it's kind of redundant to make the system render it when it's already available.

is you PS3 equipped with SSD? it can help renders stuff more quickly thou... and proven many of my members who plays on PS3.

thanks. yea done a few of those things at times.

Have a new shiny ps4 sitting at home waiting to be used thus no ssd in ps3.

Was really more interested if the slow rendering in the ps3 does affect said aoe's and boss spell castings etc.

the Ps3 version of this game won't work on Ps4? Thats kinda sucky

Nopes but we PS3 players who have the PS4 version get to test the Beta on Feb 22 and we get a free UPG to the PS version come release 14.4.14

no issue for me as PS4 will be so much better and i get to keep my current character. anyways back on subject.......
