Double Echo, why do you insist on making sense? its unwanted in these parts. Please start making whack suggestions or just leave.
People prefer stupidity. That's why Wow has the most subs compared to any other MMORPG.

Morticous - Senior admin of.... well of nothing. (cool picture here)
When the game went down for 20 days due to natural disastes you guys were all crying and thinking of ways to bring it back (seriously?) and complaining and bitchen, if they took it down by choice, boy... Would hate to see the hate!
I dont even play the game and this is a stupid idea, it makes absolute no difference weathers its online or not, hell they could just release patches spontanously and not have deadlines and it would be the same thing. Also updating several servers at once is no different from updating 1, its virtual distribution, I do it daily my work. Though if its physical yeh you have to walk over and spend a whole 10 mins fixing.
Maybe in the subscription side XD not in the f2p side tho, which XIV is in, so we can compare, MapleStory pwns wow for subs lol by like 900%
Taking them off wouldn't hasten the dev process, but then again, it would stop all of the complaints, and leave SE to work on this game blindly.
The topic was, would you reaaally care if they did?
no, i wouldnt.
I supplied a few reasons as to maaaaybe why it mite be worth it.
goddamn drama-lama forums...
I wouldn't mind them taking it down but taking them down would not speed up the dev process I believe as they have their test server already. Updates have been slow but I always thought they would be until the battle system was in, once that is complete I am expecting to see content be put in at a much more rapid pace. If after the battle system updates continue to trickle out at this rate then there should be cause for alarm, but with everything on that list that they said they will have in by the end of summer I think most people will be happy if they can pull it off.
redesigning of maps to player satisfaction along with a stable market wards for 5000 people per server @ps3 release. hmm?I wouldn't mind them taking it down but taking them down would not speed up the dev process I believe as they have their test server already. and an expansion pack with new jobs and ishguard you say?
Yes absolutely bring the game offline if that is what it takes. Keeping servers online cost money. SE is losing money every month, possibly every day as it is and is in real danger of not being able to make up to difference IF the game never regains a whole lot of subs once the monthly is actually instated.
This sort of thing happening right now is unique to SE because they have the funds for it, it was a gutsy move and because it was I thought we would have seen more by now. I've seen Fallen Earth and AoC updated faster with bug changes and those games are still going to a F2P model anyway.
Trying to hang on to our pixel characters may actually kill our game rather then sacrificing them for a better future. I hope they turn this ship around within time but I'm having a hard time understanding how they can pull this off when other companies have shut down MMOs for less problems.

And that's the rub - if these forums are any indication, you will never have player satisfaction. You can't please all of these people, and the people that post on the forums should not be a true reflection of the entire user base. They're just the most vocal. Unfortunately the most vocal seem to have incredibly bad ideas sometimes.
"I know not what brings men joy. Of what drives them to great deeds, of what legacies they hope to leave, I know less yet. But I do know this: The true hero of this tale was the man forgotten."
