Currently it seems like the new Dev team has some sort of idea on how they want the game to turn out. I'm not entirely sure where that vision will take us, but I'm assuming it will at least leave us with a game that we enjoy.

The fact that we knowthe game is actually moving somewhere is good, but I think how it is being done is not. Working on improving individual systems and implementing small parches to introduce new content in tiny waves will not please the playerbase like a frees launch would.

I am beginning to think that shutting down the game and rebuilding everything at once before relaunching is the way to go. Your teams could start by all getting on the dame server on Final Fantasy 11 and playing fresh characters to max to find out what fun systems from the past to add to the future. By having everyone on the Dev team do this and write down the different aspects of the game they enjoy as they go you would build a sort of storyboard to use while rebuilding Final Fantasy 14.

Also, just to clarify, I'm not saying SE should make this an exact copy of 11. I'm simply saying that they should take the good systems they discovered in the past and add them to this game where possible. From there they can build on that foundation and form the beautiful game we all had hoped for when we first found out about this game.

I know that doing this could cause some players to be lost, but is that even a problem with the amount of damage that was done at launch?

I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on this, it's a question I have had floating around in the old skull for a few weeks now.
Seems people dont rly care if the game goes down. All the random 11 stuff is not rly that important. Fix XIV plz SE... :/

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

I did indeed think this thread through, although it seems close to spiraling out of control. I would like to ask though, how would bringing the servers down in the way I have described in my previous post Hirt the changes that have already been made?

I do not mean for any changes or progress to be rolled back in any way. I simply think it would be better to fix the game all at once instead of slowly trickling in updates over time. By doing it this way you would have a chance to actually restore momentum by showing the public all at once that this game can be good. Slow updates do nothing but breed contempt unless they are perfect in every way. And lets be honest, even when that does happen you have those bad apples that still complain.

Wouldn't bother me I haven't played in over a month and I feel the speed at which they could do things would be much higher if they didn't have to worry about fixing the market wards 5 times a day /joke

But seriously they would have a much better work flow without the worry of the servers being up all the time.

Haha wtf is this. You seriously think a developer would not be able to code because a server is up? You do realize that a developer's role is not server administration right?

If any dev had problems putting out code because of the fact the server was on and working they would not last long at all. The only increased work flow from having the server on is the fact that it's easier to find bugs when you have an active user base. How is that a problem?
