Also, i realize they have test realms updates and work related projects are run on, that's not why I suggested the servers be brought down.

As things stand right now, we have the base for an amazing game. So amazing that people actually enjoyed the game on launch day, and still do today. The gaping holes found in pretty much every aspect of this game need to be mended, but I don't think gradually doing that is the way to go.

By shutting down the servers the public would be able to see a 'before and after' as opposed to watching things gradually improve over a very long time. The end result might be the same for the game, but if you look at both options it seems to me like everyone witnessing small patches over a long period of time would very likely still bitterly remember how bad things were at the start.

By coming back in a year or so players would be able to see how the game has improved by leaps and bounds, and begin to have a positive outlook on things by exploring a large amount of new content/changes.
