PS3 and PC, accounts, links and stuff

    Good day everyone!

I have another doubt because I'm afraid there could happen a disaster if I try doing something without asking first.

I will raise the issue. I have a PS3 and PC.

I have been playing in PC all this time and didn't even care about the PS3, but the events turned so my mother also decided to play with me so at the end we downloaded the game for the PS3 too from the PSN store.

So, she's playing happily in the PS3 and I in the PC.

My question is..... Can I log in with my account in the PS3 sometimes for teaching her some things? Will it make a strange linkage of that account to my PSN that is already linked to another square-enix account (her account) ?

It is confusing and I don't know if I'm asking it well, but basically, I'm afraid that if I try login with the PS3 I crash the other account that is linked to the PSN, or I won't be able to login back in PC.... Those things. Can somebody please tell me how it works?

In order to log in to your account with the PS3, you would need a second PS3 copy of the game, as the copy you two have is linked to her Square Enix account rather than yours. I think you would also need either separate PSN accounts or else a sub-account, but I'm less certain on that part.

I understand, it's a little of a mess and complicated, I don't understand it neither, but thanks for trying to give me a clue!

I wonder what would happen if I log in with a different PSN and then try my account there.

But my fears are the same, I fear I can damage her account, or either can't return back to my PC account. So or she wouldn't be able to play more, or I wouldn't be able to.

When you register a ps3 copy, you tie your psn with the SE account you register for. You can have multiple on the same account but I recommend you use a different psn account as it separates them nicely. When you register your new copy on the ps3 link the copy to your already existing SE account so you can play your character.

Myself and my wife play on the ps3, the only thing you need to worry about is buying a new copy of the ps3 version and ensure you register it on your SE account and not create a new one.

    Hmm... So...

Let's see, I have three different accounts in the Ps3 (Not PSN accounts, managements account, with different storage of the games and saved data, etc)

I could use the same account of PS3, changing the PSN and then it would link my SE account to that PSN, isn't it?

So if I change the PSN to one I make, I can login in the game with my account. If she wants to play she has to login with her PSN and then her SE account and so on.

Linking an account that started in PC to PS3 won't make me unavailable to return PC, isn't it?

    Yes in short.

You can play pc and ps3, just not at the same time. When you look on the mogstation you will have a new license of ps3 as well as pc

Provided that you buy a PS3 copy of FFXIV to register to your SE account, then yes. You cannot use the same FFXIV/PS3 registration that's on her account when you log into yours. You have to buy it twice in order to use it with two different accounts.

    Yes.

No, provided that you've bought both the PC and PS3 versions, you can switch back and forth between them whenever you want. (You just can't be logged into both at the same time.)

    Thanks everyone for the help.

I have, in theory only one downloaded version in the PS3. But I suppose that changing PSN and login with a SE account linked to that PSN would let me use the same downloaded data of the game, working like this:

Using the management account nº1 of the PS3 -> Using my PSN account -> FFXIV game -> Using my SE account.
Using the management account nº1 of the PS3 -> Using her PSN account -> FFXIV game -> Using her SE account.

Basically, what we have downloaded in the PS3 is the game, the launcher, but I suppose I don't need to buy a second one if we already have our different PSN and SE accounts linked and with their time periods. (For example she has around 29 days remaining with her account and I around 12).

I'll take a look to it later and confirm it.

Even so, thank you for solving my main fears about couldn't be back to log in PC and such!

You DO need to purchase another copy of the PS3 version of the game - this game in particular is locked to the PSN account on which it was purchased / activated - when you even only try to run it on your own PSN account it will fail. Considering you can get the boxed version online dirt cheap (even PSN version are now discounted) and that it will add another 30 free days to your own SW account it's not that much of problem anyway. It will indeed use only one "installation" of the game files on the PS3 not wasting the space / time by downloading it all again, only the game save files will be separated for each PSN user account there.

Thank you for the explanation, HEC!

With the discount of the game being 20 € and having in mind it gives me another 30 days it isn't a bad deal after all.

My only small doubt is if I can link two SE accounts with different remaining days to only one PSN.
