    Obtaining equipment is very easy.
    The value of the equipment is trivial.
    There is always newer stuff coming.

    For all but the best possible performance, you never even need to worry about equipment.

    What I'm trying to say is: Do not perceive your equipment as anything important or valuable. Consider it just another 'random mob drop' to be used and tossed.

    at least with random drops I can spirit bond them and turn them into Materia or turn them in for seals (which I often use to purchase repairing matter) but it feels like such a waste to not be able to do anything with the DL stuff.
