I'm drowning in Philo... been capped on Philo for about 3 weeks now. Halpz.
I've spent WAY too much time getting DL gear. And, even though I hate it, I'm still keeping in just in cases. I really do hope they come out for a use for it in the future or at least a way to store it in the armoire.
But as this thread pointed out: 1) the tomes are in abundance. 2) because of their low level now (and increasingly low level come patch 2.2) if SE adds spirit bonding option to DL (which they haven't turned on Materia making option for other lower level gear so far) then I surmise that it will not be too much of a hassle for anyone to repurchase (which is what most people will do if materia can be made off of it after you break down that first piece anyway) and re-bind. Due to all the content that will already be in place for you to run to bind it: Amdapor Keep on up to Crystal Tower, Coil ect.
Not that there is a right answer here, just playing out the options based on how liberal the game is with tomes vs the content that binds that gear vs the impact that said gear's materia would have on the market vs the consequences of just tossing it to save space (actually I had my retainer hold it before I tossed it).

They should let us combine gear.. so they get a sense of purpose.
Example:
In order to get a new super rare Sword, you need to combine the Curtana(Relic) + Break Blade(Ex Primal) + "key item of the quest" to get the weapon, this way, your work that you put into it is not just thrown away.
Goodbye, Final Fantasy...
I skipped DL gear on my most recent class and only bought DL jewellery then went straight into CT.
I think it would be a good idea if we could trade in Darklight gear at Revenants Toll towards Myth Gear. For example you could get 100 myth tomes per item of DL clothing (150 for pants or body) or something of that nature.

Same here except I ended up replacing DL gear with ilvl60 gears from the old Amdapor Keep (before the nerf) because at least I knew I could trade those in for seals! And I've been wearing 60 gear and slowly replacing it with the CT gear making DL gear even more worthless.
SWTOR has that kind of setup for the highest levels of PvP gear.
To go to the highest levels of PvP gear, you have to already have the equivalent piece of the next lower-tiered gear, plus a few hundred (or thousand) PvP Commendations.
It's not even worth the 2 minutes it takes you to walk to your Grand Company. It's what, like maybe 200 seals for a myth item? Who cares. Given how long it takes to get myth items you would think it'd be more on the magnitude of giving at least 1000 seals apiece- not that you'd have any use for those seals anyway.
They should just make the Armoire actually hold everything that's blue or purple, with some extras like event items. I've never seen a "special item storage" done so poorly.
You can always buy the DL gear new. It is now not a problem to get the philo stones for it.I'm afraid I'll discard them and then SE will be like "oh btw you can now trade your old DL gears for xyz" or something. I wish there was some official world saying yes or no and if no that's ok - I can live with it but I just want to be 100% sure! I don't really like any of the DL gears (especially the cowls on the caster/healer classes) so honestly I'm probably going to get rid of them if I can't trade them in.
Dark Matter 5, so repairing equip cost no gil.
