My opinion on this is to go with PC unless you're able to afford a PS4 to pick up that version in April. PS3 has a very cluttered and unchangeable UI that can make it more difficult to play than it needs to be. It also has issues with framerate and the number of characters displayed at the same time from my experience in comparison to PC. PC on the other hand, has a customizable UI and the default layout in general is less cluttered. You are also able to use controller on PC and if you wanted to you could hook your laptop up to your TV for a larger screen. They confirmed that the PS4 version of the game will be about 99% accurate to the PC version so it would definitely be an alternative option if you can afford it. Overall the best experience to be had is on PC.

PS4 will give you the best bang for your buck.

PC there almost is not top end.
PS3 is dated and you will get better game play out of a PS4.

If you have money for a PS4, that's a better option, but the game is far from unplayable on the PS3 (though it's certainly not ideal either).

In my country (italy), ps3 is selling for 120 euro this is why I'm thinking to buy it! What should I do?
Sorry for the Late Answer mate. If you cant spend more than $150. Then Yes go for the ps3 Version. The ps3 ver will beat your lap top.

But. If you can afford ps4 in the future go for that. Dont buy ps3 Fat because those ps3 have yellow lights. ps3 Slim. One last thing buy a HDMI cable with "Good quality" that will help improve a little the graphics.

Don't get the PS3 or PS4 CONSOLE if you are only getting it for 14.

Upgrading your LAPTOP will improve performance in your games, and you get to carry along all the games you've had till now. Plus, w/e you do on your current laptop will hopefully be done better on the upgrade.

Bottom line: A laptop has more use than a PS3/PS4, so I recommend you UPGRADE your laptop to enhance your PC over all experience.

Just to chime in, but don't be afraid of building your own PC. I built my own and I have derpfingers that can't even change the oil in my car or screw in a lightbulb properly. Plus, it's pretty boss to get something you made yourself that costs half as much as a brand name gaming computer but runs just as well.

As others have said, remove the now-outdated PS3 from consideration. It should be PS4 or PC.

Are there more than half a dozen other games on the PS3 that interest you? If so, get a PS3 and play FFXIV there.

Do you plan to get a PS4 and/or do many PS4 games look interesting to you? If so, hold out until you can afford the PS4.

If the only reason you are looking at a PS3 is for FFXIV and FFXIV alone, then I would honestly skip the PS3 and put the money towards a new laptop or desktop.

This is coming from someone who has both a high end gaming PC and launch editions of both consoles. I usually am only on the PS3 when I want to sit on the couch and relax while Gathering. It is noticeably worse graphics wise that even the lowest PC settings. While I haven't seen the poor performance that some have mentioned, I can easily tell that the PS3 client does not handle the game nearly as well.

I've tried to connect my laptop to TV (lg smart tv 29'') with an hdmi cable yesterday but was really difficult to play (strange resolution, hard to read texts). Is it a problem of resolution (1366*768) ?
I want to play while im on the couch and relax, buying a ps4 is the worst choice (imo) because i play only mmorpgs and if i left ffxiv i will not use it.
After all your negative reviews about playing on ps3 I'm considering buying a new gaming PC (desktop) but i want to be sure i can play with 0 problems on the TV using a wireless k&m and an hdmi cable
(i work 8h at day on a chair in front of a pc, when i come back home i want to sit on my bed and play confortly).
    Thanks for ur answer guys

Get a PS4, not a PS3. If you can't afford a decent PC, the PS4 will be the better investment for you.

The PS3 doesn't run the game as well as one would hope - there's longer load times, and it's got some issues struggling with certain encounters with a lot of particle effects. (Have read many accounts of people complaining about this issue.)

It just seems silly to buy a PS3 at this point, with the PS4 out anyway. You would have a much better return on your investment in just obtaining a PS4. There may not be many games out for it now, but if you enjoy FF14, that should be enough for you! =)
