Jumping every time I put client in foreground

This just started today, and I'm at my wits end for trying to figure it out. With ffxiv and browser and any other window open, any time ffxiv gets put in the foreground, whether from alt tabbing to it, or clicking on it directly, or minimizing the window in front of it, my character jumps.

I've unplugged and replugged in my keyboard, verified drivers are current, restarted pc, even ran a system restore, and it still does it. Anyone have an idea what I can do to fix this problem?

That is such a peculiar issue, and it's hard to even pinpoint a search result related to it in Google.

First thing you want to do is check for any recent changes in your PC, try to remember any new software you installed or updated, also type "event viewer" in the start menu search and look at the list of recent changes.

Although when you mention you even ran a system restore, that almost throws that suggestion out the window.

Do a few more hardware related tests. Unplug keyboard (keep it unplugged) and use the mouse to switch back focus, repeat with the mouse unplugged this time (and again with controller, if you use one).

One last (FFXIV related) suggestion is go to "My Documents > My Games > FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn" and copy the contents of that folder somewhere else (don't delete, you'll put them back after another test).

If the issue is specifically FFXIV related, you might have to reinstall it (might as well do that if you have a fast connection to download the updates quickly).

did it with both mouse and keyboard unplugged, started getting an idea what it might be when i would open up the hud menu, and when moving my mouse across the screen the menus would flicker, went ahead and uninstalled the game, and right as it finished uninstalling I looked up and noticed my kids had stuck our wireless controller under my work gloves...pretty sure the issue was a button being constantly mashed from that thing...guess I'll find out when the game finishes downloading updates!
