I wouldn't get my hopes up for the localization team to change anything. The playerbase threw a big stink in the Beta forums over the fact that the NA localization of spell names was the only one to not have spells named Fira, Firaga, Thundaga, etc. while the other regions and localizations did. The dev response didn't help smooth things over either.
English name for Mirage Prism is Glamour !? WT... NO, NO NO NO NO NO NO NO... Keep it Mirage Prism...
One word > two words.
Mirage Prism sounds like an item. Glamour is an excellent word for what a vanity system does.
FYI: The response was a history lesson about the naming of spells, and no the NA client wasn't the only one not to get -ra/-ga/-ja suffixes. The French client uses Extra/Mega prefixes on the names. Which is what they've always used in that localization.I wouldn't get my hopes up for the localization team to change anything. I recall that response (which was just Ferne side-stepping the issue with things that didn't answer anyone's question though he did somewhat address it later) but there were various responses; the first was the one that caused the shitstorm since it essentially said players would have difficulty knowing the difference between Fire and Fira in the heat of battle. Buttttttt.. this all besides the point and we're forever II, IX, LLMXII.Mirage Prism sounds like an item. Glamour is an excellent word for what a vanity system does.

They can call it what they choose. I'll use whatever the playerbase settles on, be it vanity, glamour, Sacred Moon Prism Gambit Trance Costume Break, whatever.
If you read quest text on leves and such, "glamours" are what its called when a monster makes itself look like another monster. Glamour seems to be the phrase for illusion magic in the english version.
It took this long for someone else who actually bothered to read the quest text to come forth and mention this, so I'm quoting for emphasis.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Yeah that's pretty much what the devs said. "The players would be confused" because more games used the I->II->III etc naming instead of -ra, -ga, etc. Then it erupted into a "no they didn't/yes they did" discussion.I recall that response (which was just Ferne side-stepping the issue with things that didn't answer anyone's question though he did somewhat address it later) but there were various responses; the first was the one that caused the shitstorm since it essentially said players would have difficulty knowing the difference between Fire and Fira in the heat of battle. The devs seem to be very afraid of their player base being stupid if you recall the reason they gave for not giving us the right click -> Blacklist in chat box at first: "Players may accidentally blacklist friends." They went back on that, so, they're not completely adamant on these things, but stubborn? Oh yes. Very much.
Please no. Mirage Prism just sounds so silly and doesn't hold the same "buzzword" meaning to English native speakers as it does to JPs.
