    Eventual Party Finder/Dungeon Finder?

For those of you who have played WoW you're aware of the Dungeon Finder feature they had added a while back. For those of you who don't know about it, I'll detail it on the bottom of this post, so please check there.

What would you guys think of a Party Finder, that is, separate from a Dungeon Finder, but akin to the Dungeon Finder in WoW.

    So something along these lines:
    • Queue into Party Finder from Menu, anywhere in the world
    • Cross server scan for people your level to form a party
    • Teleport to a special party instance
    • Battle monsters

Note: Purely to find a party, not for dungeons, that would be the Dungeon Finder.
(Though I suppose if its a special instance it is ~technically~ a dungeon finder.)

Of course there could be slight adjustments/additions to this, say, do you want a light or heavy party, put in the classes you are willing to level, special rewards for using the feature, etc.

Although a Dungeon Finder would accomplish much the same thing, as the dungeons are seemingly time capped, it may be viable to have a simple party finder. The instance could be a special area where there is more than one party. Just something to allow players to easily find a party and battle a bit.

This is largely in response to FFXI, where sometimes it took hours to find a party, who knows it might be completely fruitless in FFXIV. Although if FFXI did add this right now... that would be pretty amazing.

    Dungeon Finder in WoW

In WoW, you (or a group of people, say 4) can queue up for a Random Dungeon, in your level range, from your menu (anywhere in the world), or a specific dungeon if you prefer. Then the client examines cross server for other people in a similar level range also in queue, and tries to form a party of a Tank, Healer, and 3 Damage Dealers (That's the usual party in WoW), who then get instantly teleported to the dungeon, and fight their way through. They also receive a special reward for completing the dungeon, granted they kill a certain boss. Such as a random, decent equipment piece, or later on, special points used for items/whatnot.

I think the addition of 2 capped dungeons is not even close to enough to even consider this function.

Cross realm instances are an incredible amount of tech behind the scenes, and with the game in it's current state, I would prefer them to focus on the basics before heading into directions which may never see any use.

I'm against instant teleport to the dungeon. It's not FF like and too much "lazy people" like

I'm okay with it as long as it doesn't involve instantly teleporting into an instance. That really ruins the experience overall I think (not to mention throws potential content away).

Depends on how it is handled.

If it does not destroy the guild focus and what not I have no problem with it, if it make it where it is easier to instawarp into things with a dungeon finder then to do things with a linkshell then I am completely against it.

If they find a way to do it without hurting the linkshells I see no harm in it... but atm I see that as something hard to do atm. They add Dungeon finder most people will use that instead in the games current state.

Oh my fur and whiskers... Please do notice I said eventual in the title. That is, quite a ways off, to do this right now would certainly be folly. Also, half of you seemed to have missed the crux of the post, I was talking mostly about a Party Finder not a Dungeon Finder, though I was considering that as well (again, not with the two instances, but further on).

As Wolfie just pointed out, what about Anima? At the moment you could be halfway across the world and teleport to the area where the new instances are. I don't know what you mean by its not FF like, perhaps FFXI like? The Final Fantasy series has had teleportation (FFV for example), or Airships that were darn near teleportation. But that's beside the point, the point is Party Finder, not Dungeon Finder.

In regard to the Party Finder. your ls can already teleport to a camp. Hmm, but perhaps they could add benefits for being in a LS party? Nothing huge, just a little boost. Also, I didn't mention this, but in the Dungeon Finder in WoW, you can have 4 people in a group queue up, you'll then just be looking for that one last spot to be filled. So you could actually do it with a group of LS members, if you're a person or two short (for say, 8 people groups).

In regard to the Dungeon Finder:
Keep in mind that these would become pick up groups, meaning no time to plan ahead. If the instances are all timed, this could make it quite a bit more difficult. Besides, there are bound to be instances that are simply too difficult to do with a pick up group, and in those a LS with organization will predominate.

I'm against Anima system and Instant warp, even hate guildleves giving you a joyride back, though the less I have to see of the god awful designs of the maps I dont mind it to much.
