Question...is Tanaka and Yoshi-P working this way? (Read inside)

Something occurred to me. The updates Yoshi-P has been pushing out have been somewhat disappointing thus far, and that led me to wonder this very question; Is Yoshi-P just working on the core aspect of the game, while Tanaka works on developing more content for the game?

Here's how it pans out: Yoshi-P's team works on fixing the game and the core battle system. Tanaka's team focuses on developing usable content and assets for Yoshi-P's team (ie. Ishgard, new zones/regions, classes/jobs, etc) and passes them off to Yoshi-P for finalization and implementation.

Now this doesn't mean Tanaka has a final say in the overall vision of the game, but rather produces the actual resources for Yoshi-P's team to utilize in developing the game. Let's say they want to make Ishgard available by the PS3 release - they haven't said anything about that yet. Maybe this is because it was content already planned by Tanaka prior to the team changeover. They're still working on producing the actual game resources (environment models, sound, ambient music, etc), but Yoshi-P isn't ready to announce this content until he figures out how to fit it into his vision of a resurrected Final Fantasy 14.

That's what I think is, or ought to be, going on. At least in this way, Tanaka has an opportunity to redeem himself for his mistakes.

it doesn't matter what he has going on behind the scenes he is the head guy and it is his responsibility to get things done. i do believe this is how people were towards tanaka isn't it? why did one director with more experience get blasted while the inexperienced guy gets a free pass? this line of thinking is completely backwards.

The reason Tanaka got blasted was because he was a closed-minded person who did not take feedback very well, nor did he encourage feedback of any kind. His overall attitude was "I'm making this game and you're going to like it no matter what."

End result? Nobody liked his vision or the way he implemented it, thus he got kicked to the curb.

Well, in all frankness, we never really SAW Tanaka's vision.. only half-baked parts of it. For all we know, once it was finished, it may have been one of the best MMO games to date, or it could have been total crap, We'll never really know.

Instead, the game was rushed out the door a full year before it should have been, the players saw the half-baked mess, hated it, and started yelling for change that would bring the game back into familiar territory (FFXI, WoW style).

I'm neither willing nor able to blame Tanaka's vision for FFXIV...

Sorry dood but this comment is fail.. Tanaka had years to get something good out.. We've only given Yoshi a few months to get Tanakas fail plan into gear. Get off the hater aid dood.

However I must say looking at earlier letters from yoshi I expected shit to get done a lot quicker then this.. And now im a little annoyed that we don't get hardly shit worth of communication anymore.

The Japanese are getting more hits then us with information now, I think it has to do with how we take everything. No matter what Yoshida releases he gets flamed, people twist his words into horrible things, rumors spread like wildfire, and page after page of BS appears on the forums. If you where him, wouldn't you stop giving information to the people who are not appreciative of him taking the time to give it to us. His job is not to talk to the Players, his job is to make sure everything in the development is going right.

I mean crap if everyone told me I was just making crap up to string along everyone, and everything I posted was 100% bs I would stop talking to those people.

I could be wrong, but I see it as we all should be glad we are told anything anymore with how we react to it.
