    A Better Lockout Removal Compromise

    DISCLAIMER: I don't wanna' hear "get over it" or "they have the gear to show for it" or "they get to do Turns 6-9" or "this' how MMO's work, find a new genre", please stop with the fallacious arguments/flaming/necro'ing; do you hear me complaining in this thread? Do you truly not see how having the gear alone doesn't count (I speak to this)? Do you really not understand that everyone will get to do Turns 6-9 in time? And do you not get that MMO's don't 'have' to work like that? C'mon, let's have a real civil conversation. Additionally, I'm asking for replies with further suggestions, not your upheaval.


    Listen, lockout removal will happen. I personally am okay with it, I'm all for letting all players experience all of the content in time & I think you should be too.

    The real frustration for many lies in the homogenization.

    Players who earned the gear/beat all five prior to the lockout removal/encounter nerf, I think they should have something to show for it.

    It's only fair they have something visual to honor their achievement.

    Many of these people want something to 'show' for their accomplishment, the gear doesn't count as soon after a reset everyone possesses it.


    I have a few ideas of my own & I would gladly receive all of your suggestions as well:

    1a. A special dazzle or glow to the tier set pieces (pre lockout-removal)
    1b. A different colour-palette to the " "

    2. Unlock a unique face-paint or tattoo specific to the downed content

    3. Unlock a unique insignia specific to the downed content which can be affixed to armor


    I strongly believe the reward shouldn't be something that would deject the rest of the player-base or incite jealously (e.g. a unique mount or barding)... this bonus should merely serve as a time-limited means of honoring the legacy of players who defeated the top-tier content while it was still 'top-tier'.

    Any other suggestions?

    The only "reward" anyone who cleared it prior to the nerf needs is the knowledge that they cleared it when it was hard.

    I never fought Twin pre 2.1 but to my understanding they really only nerfed Twisters. BUT in 2.1 it seems the difficulty was rounded out when they made RoD useless, nerfed Virus and made it so many groups wil only get LB2 for the snakes. I would like to get an opinion of people who killed Twin pre 2.1 and after.

    The reward of clearing the content before its nerfed is being able to show off the armor/rewards you got from it while the content is still "difficult". That's it, that's all you get. Maybe you'll get an achievement or something but idk why you want to show off your e-peen like anyone cares that you cleared Twintania post-Twister nerf.

    You don't need to be elite to clean easy content, like coil. What you need is some focus and a static groups. But let's be honest, the later isn't a must anymore it's been quite a while.

    But if you take away the challenge and the feeling of accomplishment/reward from MMORPG what are you left with? Vanity only? yeah, GW2 did it and look the mess it is. So, please, you're starting to sound like a person who ever wanted to to do that kind of content but never managed to and developed a grudge against anybody who did. =/

    I already posted this in the other thread, but might as well post it here since this thread is relevant to compromise for the rewards for those who cleared the content before the nerf.

    SE should hold an event wherein players who cleared the X content "first" will receive an X reward. Which is a win-win situation IMHO, giving players something to work for and rewarding them something only the first one will have.

    'Hardcore' players usually play to beat super hard content for the sake of knowing you can beat the hardest the game has to offer. Now, with the hardest being nerfed and even more new content that is supposed to be the new extreme stuff, coming out, you'd think this would be very welocome. I have played games where my super uber gear eventually becomes second in comparison because of new content replacing older content which few experienced. I was happy I could continue growing my char with new challenges until the cycle repeats.
