Primsatic Heart consumes candy?

Luckily I only started playing with this item after I had bought everything I needed and traded for the Bitter Heart Candy, but it seems like these items consume a candy when you use one. Someone else confirmed when I asked in /sh and I had mysteriously been losing candy.
