    Even if you could class change in dungeons, you'd have to deal with the class change penalty outside towns. You lose all your buffs and your GCD for everything has a 1 minute wait time, not to mention all of your other cooldowns are reset as well. So this idea would cause dungeons to take longer to complete, create loot issues and create pointless drama. Impractical, unnecessary and stupid.

    There's only one positive named so far that makes sense. The "to fix mismatched df parties" one, but I would only be okay with it allowing people to swap before the dungeon/primal/raid/ect began. As in before you attack even one enemy. To do it on the fly offers too many options that would make it easy to bypass rules on current content/allow for ninja lot on class specific equipment.

    I say no, mainly because other classes aren't allow to switch Jobs mid-dungeon either, so what makes BLM/SMN, WHM/SCH and/or PLD/WAR so special that they deserver this kind of special treatment?

    Other than that I'd have to say only because SE has this special system where you can max all classes on one char, doesn't mean it has to be abused to the max. You enter a dungeon on class, you finish it on the same class. Where would you draw the line for switching jobs? Like you open a loot chest as a BLM and find a SMN weapon so you just switch to SMN to be able to need over the other players? It would also simplify the game as you could always change to the job that's better suited for the next pull and/or boss, instead of having to make do with what your initla group composition offered.

    This is a bad idea... allow me to explain why.

    In 1.0, SE allowed people to change classes mid-dungeon as you are suggesting. This resulted in a lot of class stacking for certain bosses. One example is Aurum Vale. The first boss, all of the dps went BLM. The final boss, all of the dps went MNK. Class stacking FORCED people to have multiple jobs at 50 and the ability to switch. SE wanted ARR to be more friendly toward people who only had one class geared -- so what you enter a dungeon with is what you are stuck with.

    Regarding your mention that it should 'only' apply to like-minded classes (SMN/BLM, WHM/SCH, PLD/WAR, etc), this would still not be a good idea because each class has its strengths and weaknesses. I'll talk about SMN/BLM because those are two classes I know well. SMN is better on single-target when you have to dodge a lot of things. BLM is better on adds you have to burst down really fast. These are two distinct strengths/weaknesses that force you to form a balanced party. If you could switch mid-dungeon, it would remove the requirement of entering with a balanced set of people. Everyone would switch to SMN for dodging fights, or BLM for 'bursting down the adds' fights. Of course, there are a bunch of differences between SMN/BLM but I'm oversimplifying it to keep this post short.

    The desire for ranged DPS vs. melee DPS is already imbalanced. This would just further that notion. Why take a Mnk or Drg when you can bring a few Blm/Smn with incredible versatility? It makes zero sense to give 6 jobs the ability to change roles on the fly but not the other 3. How could you possibly think that's fair/balanced?

    The whole POINT of having multiple encounters in an instance is that no one class is going to be ideal for all of it. Allowing for this swapping would just make it too easy. And more boring. Bad idea. Not even sure why you posted. O.o

    I like this idea, firstly I can que for stuff as a tank, then swap to DPS once I've got into the dungeon reducing my 1 hour que to instant! Then I can swap as needed to roll Need on all the equipment I want, what could possibly be wrong with that?

    Meh..

    I'd rather be able to switch out job crystals in low level encounters. For instance, Lv39 PLD in Sastasha or other early dungeon, I'd rather role GLA and have access to more cross class skills.

    I don't really see how that sort of change would upset any "balances".

    In regards to being able to swap during an instance, I've been against it since dungeons were introduced. For purposes of circumventing the "earn relic on the job you're playing as" requirement, the "need roll priority switch" drama, "queue as a tank/healer, switch to DPS once in" drama and the " to be able to swap to i96 melee/bard/caster in the same instance community requirement".

    I know the suggestion may be toward switching within the same role/archetype, but if you win this battle with SE, someone(s) will push the envelope to being able to switch to any job, which leads to the above drama. If job crystals swap, arcanist and future jobs with multiple role crystals will be at an advantage.

    When it comes to FFXIV's 1.18 and 2.0 designs, I believe in the idea of class/job locking once the instance starts. You have a party setup, you have to figure out how its makeup works, take advantage of its strengths, be careful of its weaknesses throughout the entire dungeon.
