They made Behemoth an enemy and a mount, so surely they can do it with Fenrir too!
...I just want a cool Summoner-only mount ;_;
if SE implements FENRIR the wrong way i will rage :P , NO FATE (like odin ~~) , no lame dungeon boss , its fenrir for twelve´s sake.
as mount would be cool but i doubt it.....and since summoners use lol-egis , i guess wont see a fenrir egi (purple wolverine thats look retarded, no thanks, lol)
Primal is the only option left i guess,or raid boss (CT?)

Menphina's Loyal hound was actually another name for Dalamud, Eorzea's main moon is known as Menphina (after the godess) It gained that name because the lesser moon was always seen close to the main moon looking like a loyal pet, so some people called it Menphina's Loyal Hound
http://xivwiki.com/Menphina (see the notes.)
But that's why the Lamb's of Dalamud are always linked with Menphina's loyal hound.
Oh and Plot twist the Wolf Pup minion is actually Fenrir Egi... Mind blown.

Am I the only one who feels like everyone is over exaggerating on Fenrir, I mean that dumb wolf has had an okay back story in what? One FF game, maybe 2 if you count XI. What about Gilgamesh, who has been in almost all FF games, he deserves more than Fenrir >_>...
We already have Gilgamech for Hildibrand Story Quest. No need to talk about him when I've already made a post about that long ago and his role being confirmed in FF14.
Besides Gilgamesh may be a reocurring character in Hildibrand Quest splitting into several different fights through Hildibrand Saga while serving as Hildibrand's Archrival.
Now we talk about something that we don't have as much info on which is Fenrir.
Fenrir has been around awhile. You know who almost never had a true back story? Shiva, yet people "over exaggerate" wanting her.
Garuda? Ha, yeah her too.
Ramuh? Him too. FFIX and IV After Years are the only FF games with an actual "story" tied to him that had true plot relevance - He's "just a summon" and most FF games.
By your logic a lot of these summons shouldn't be in the game except for Bahamut since Bahamut is generally the only being with a true story anchor. So no one is 'over exaggerating", FFXI just happens to be a FF game that gave story and backstories to summons that usually never had them.
I really like the theory tying Fenrir as the one responsible for bringing destruction to the Amdapor civilization. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the summoning of Fenrir during the Crystal War of Final Fantasy XI what nearly destroyed the Windurst Federation? A nice correlation if anything.
And I love even more the idea of Fenrir relating to Menphina, my chosen deity, as he's been my favorite summon since XI. And I also believe Fenrir has been tied to the element of ice in the past, like Menphina. But then again, he has shifted elements frequently to my knowledge; representing wind, earth, and of course, darkness as well. So perhaps that isn't as crucial as I first thought.
While I think this has the making of amazing lore potential for Fenrir, I will be deeply sadden if he does not become summonable by Summoners, Egi or not. Forgive my XI nostalgia, but Fenrir was always my chosen side-kick for my many adventures. I've been looking forward to hopefully one day recreating those happy times in XIV, but understand this is a different game and respect the Producer's vision.

On the contrary, Fenrir was the avatar that saved Windurst from the Yagudo invasion. Ajido-Marujido (I think his named was) summoned him right as the Yagudo were reaching the gates of The Federation. Fenrir's power was so strong that it took the life of the summoner in the ritual, but hey, on the bright side, because of his sacrifice we got to see Shantotto.I really like the theory tying Fenrir as the one responsible for bringing destruction to the Amdapor civilization. http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Karaha-Baruha
it was karaha baruha that summoned fenrir and saved windurst :
"I heard the hero Karaha-Baruha's voice when he summoned that glorious beast.
"`You've done well in holding them off. Leave the rest to my servant, Fenrir,' he said.
"Yes! That great creature was called FENRIR! Fenrir... I haven't said that name in twenty years."
It is said that Karaha-Baruha gave his life to summon the enormous beast
His answer: "Why not? It is my life's work to let the world know the greatness of Karaha-Baruha.
here explains the whole story
