[Suggestion] New stat system (if stat points are kept)

Let's buck the trend of str, con, dex, etc. for stat selections, double (or triple as needed) the number of stat points we get with each level and then give us more stat selections for greater customization.

Instead, the stat options could be something like this (this assumes every class will have it's own stat point chart shortly):
    • HP
    • MP
    • Physical Attack Power
    • Physical Attack Accuracy
    • Physical Crit Chance
    • Physical Defense
    • Physical Evasion
    • Magical Attack Power
    • Magical Attack Accuracy
    • Magical Crit Chance
    • Magic Defense
    • Magic Resistance
    • Crafting Success Chance
    • Crafting Increased Output Chance
    • Crafting High-Quality Chance
    • Gathering Success Chance
    • Gathering Increased Output Chance
    • Gathering High-Quality Chance

Lastly, don't cap stats. Let players determine their own playstyles.

Say I want to be a glass-cannon pugilist: with maxed out physical attack. I have zero additional HP, evasion, defense, anything. But in a party, I can tear into a mob, so long as the tank is good at holding aggro.

Or maybe I want to be a "paladin", speccing my conjurer to have extremely high defense, HP and resistance. No matter how much aggro I draw, it doesn't matter.

Or maybe I want to just have 8,000 HP and take forever to kill things. Who's to say I'm wrong if that's my playstyle?

In crafting, you can be a carpenter who regularly churns out double batches of arrows, or a goldsmith who has a harder time completing synths but regularly +2s those s/he does complete.

Also, we'd have the "Recommended" button for players who are confused and want to go for a "traditional" build.

Obviously, SE can decide what stats of that list they'd like to keep, but I'd still like to see a stat system that truly hands control over to the players.

This seems overly complex. While complex systems can be great ideas, they also serve to burden and confuse the new player. That's one of FFXIV's problems right now, in my opinion. We have all these stats, levels, elemental attributes, etc, and nobody knows what the heck any of it does or how they should spec.

True, but this is technically less confusing than our current system because players have no idea what each stat does without looking it up. I'm still not even sure which stats influence which crafting/gathering jobs.

This would take that confusion and toss it out the window. The number of choices would be daunting, but in the end, we'd basically have complete control over our classes.

I have a good idea on how to allocate points based on information SE has provided through their QandA but at the moment stats don't seem to have an overall effect or at least noticeable effects. For example if I wanted my con to be a nuker and put a lot of allocation into INT and PIE... I don't notice it at all. This is where automatic distribution based on class would be ideal imo.
