Consider yourself corrected.

You can only toggle AOE right before the final confirmation of your spell cast. Therefore, you always need to press 'enter' or the 'confirm' button twice before your spell goes off. If the AOE toggle was active all the time, you could just set your AOE toggle beforehand, and then just press the confirm button once to cast a spell.

Drives me completely batty. I only want to push once and BAM the thing works. This is a nice idea.
