Beautiful OP, just beautiful.
Beautiful OP, just beautiful.
I love the idea.
But for anyone that is having trouble with the current aoe system, why not just create a macro.
line1:/aoe
the system echoes what the current status of your aoe is.
I personally say don't put the command in your more complex macros because something can always go wrong, i.e. interrupting with another macro, lag, or simple glitch.
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
PLEASE PLEASE please please please PLEASE do this. Ground-targeted AoE would be the best thing, but just being able to see the AOE range of attacks would be an amazing godsend.Hey guys! We spoke with Matsui and he let us know that the development team is thinking about implementing some type of visual display for weapon-related actions and magic spells for their AoE range and direction. Keep in mind that this is still in the discussion phase and may take some time and is also subject to change.
I think SE should do something like what Dragon Age Origins does, as seen in this video:

Notice the graphical projections on the ground indicating the area of the spell's effect? That's what we need in FFXIV.
( ◕ ‿‿ ◕ )
I've wanted this since day one. Especially after those diagrams the old dev team released indicating each class' areas of effect and range. Would be good if these fields of effect would glow only while choosing them, and of course a toggle option for those who wish not to see it if they don't want.

Just an FYI as I noticed a few people in this thread asking, On the game pad, the Battle Regimen button toggles AOE on and off when the button is on the screen.
There is, the button that is used to pull up the emote list also toggles AoE mode on and off during battle.
And I do have to say Hamtaro's OP is awesome-sauce but he already knows that!

ROFL, my visual mockup was sooooo much better.
I'm ecstatic that this thread got DEV attention. This feature would be an excellent addition to the game.On a related note, I think it would be cool if there was an option to toggle an effect that lets the caster see the circular/conical radius of their AoEs. It could be displayed when you select the ability, before you use it.
Here are two god-awful drawings that I slapped together really quick in Microsoft Paint to illustrate what I mean, lol:

Cool picture, i like the aoe range u showed
Something like a blue aura around the ground would work to indicate that the player is currently in AoE mode.
I do like the idea of having a visual radius, too many times especially when playing THM I hit stuff I don't intend to.
