    WP question

    There's one place in Wanderer's Palace that is always a shuffle for me:

    In the beginning after clearing rooms on the right there's a narrow passage with fish and a tonberry behind them. When doing this we often end up flanked by the wanderer or someone accodentally pulls the tonberry from the circular room with the trap chest in it.


    So my question to you experienced tanks is: what do you do here?
    I'm a war so that's the skillset I'm dealing with.

    Thanks in advance for your wisdom. (And yes this is the only bit in wp I have trouble with!)

    The ton stalker will go through room with the trap chest. He goes left and around at first and then when going back he goes the other way. If doing a normal run just avoid this pattern.

    Thank you so I probably should focus people on one target out of the initial fish group so when I need to pull the group into the circular room (to the right?) we won't be overwhelmed by the dmg spike caused by the tonberry.

    I suppose there's enough room there.
    I worry that if I pull the mob to the left the chances are higher that somebody ends up "discovering" the chest in the back of the room.

    I honestly think youre just moving too slow. Depending on your pace, you should be able to take the Pugils, along with the mob ahead of it (before boss room) and take them all right in front of that room. Make sure you focus that last Tonberry, as it allows the door to the boss to open. If you need to finish off your adds, do so in the boss room (before the seal)

    seems like yor moving slow, in 2.0 when i would spam that for myth would have that group dead b4 tonberry got there, then would pull everything after to door, kill the one tonberry and have my smn friend swiftcast bind everything and engage boss so eneimies got stuck behind purple field (blm can sleepga too)

    otherwise u can pull the whole group right to the corner, then after ton passes can pull the group in hallway in the corner on same wall as trap chest without triggering it
    ton will go left around the trap chest then down the hall to the boss and back, then left and leave the trap chest room

    I think my gear is not up to par because pulling the entire cast of mobs to the 2nd fish infested hallway would get me killed. Am I striving for the wrong set of gear to begin with? I currently have AF gear from the job quests. My head armor is better (vermilion) and my waist is darklight.

    Sometimes people tell me my gear is too low but is there something between these 2 I could quest or buy?
    Basically before the circular room pulling both fish and tonberry seems like it always puts the whm under stress of a high dmg spike.
    As I'm writing this I'm thinking that I probably should conserve the big def buffs for this section and maybe hitting the instawrath to get the first of three mobs down as fast as possible.

    Also seriously thank you guys for all the advice. I'm happy there are some players that can share this knowledge as in- game the only feedback you usually get is "gj" or "you suck".

    I'll break down the trash pulls for you in a semi-speedrun (can be done in AF with HQ Amber/Militia and onward):

    First pull is grabbing the 2 tonberries then running to the 2nd room and grabbing the birds. Kill all that, run up the stairs, spawn the bugs, and AOE 'em down. Grab the next trash pack (birds + ton I think), kill all that, then move into the room with the trap chest and grab everything inside and move them to the bottom right corner with DPS and heals on the middle right side. This allows them to avoid the AOEs and not get caught by the Stalker (he'll always go left first).

    After that, pull the next pack, AOE, next pack (tons first then move the rest into the boss room) and you're on to the first boss.

    Next pull is Ton -> Pugils -> Ton. Then go up the stairs, kill all the stuff, move into Stalker Hell. This room can give you a bit of problems depending on where the Stalkers are when you're pulling, but the safest method is to kill the Bones, Flash the spirits, Provoke one of the Tonberries guarding the boss door and try to kill them all on the stairs. After this, there are 2 mobs (skeleton and ghost) near the handle you need to turn along with a Stalker patrolling nearby, so what I'll typically do is grab them with Shield Lob/Tomahawk/Provoke, pull them near the boss room, have a DPS turn the switch (Flashing/Overpowering the mobs in the meantime so that the healer can heal), then run into the boss room. At this point you can either lock them out by standing right in front of the purple line and having someone else pull the boss for you, then grabbing aggro with Tomahawk/Lob and waiting for the 15s when the mobs will get locked out... OR you can just kill the mobs inside the boss room before pulling the boss.

    Dodge Fire by running through, AOE down mobs, don't die, onto the next trash. 3 spirits are next, one of which will cast an AOE (yellow one iirc) - instinctively, after these are dead, you'd think to just run up the stairs, kill those tons, and grab the chest. However, running up the stairs triggers a Stalker to spawn - so what you'll want to do is (either while the spirits are still up or after they die) Provoke one of the tons down the stairs, kill them, THEN go up the stairs to grab the chest. After that it's 2 simple pulls, you can either pull one to the other or kill one at a time. Tonberries always take priority if theres any mobs left over by the time the Stalker catches up simply go into the boss room and kill them there.
