Just had a thought of the future.... when (if) we have more than one job per class, say WHM and BLM branching off of Conjurer, and Bayohne already stated that 50 Gladiator would be a 50 Paladin, that means they level 'together' since it's just a title.
Does this mean that if you only played a Conjurer WHM to 50, you also have 50 CON BLM, without even touching it?
Just a thought that sounds like a bad idea, when I want to experience all the mage classes and not just have them handed to me =/'
That is how it sounded to me and that is why I think it will only ever be 1 class to 1 job.Just had a thought of the future.... when (if) we have more than one job per class, say WHM and BLM branching off of Conjurer, and Bayohne already stated that 50 Gladiator would be a 50 Paladin, that means they level 'together' since it's just a title.

People keep saying this. I don't see how it's a problem.
If I am a lvl 50 CON and all i have to do to unlock WHM is some quests then why can't i do that as a lvl 50 or 75 or whatever CON to unlock BLM at a later date?
There seems to be a vision that once jobs hit we are all tossing away our old classes and becoming a job. I'm not gathering that at all from the information we have at the moment.
Feels more like a CON is a CON till the servers shut down and jobs are just the games way of giving players a role or focus for group content.
"Hey i got in a group! Guys, good news I've 100% unlocked WHM and BLM so I am good to fulfill either DPS or healing."
The argument that the system can't work like that because we might be leveling CON/WHM together is silly. Because there is no leveling CON/WHM. There is just leveling CON while having a WHM job activated. So in essence, a CON could have 50 jobs attached to it and it would be up to the player to do the work in unlocking those jobs to be able to fulfill certain rolls.

This is why con needs 2 jobs and you can switch between them much like in XI maybe by going to the guild (force peeps to grid lol) and you can either specialise in whm or blm, your choice. One or the other. Thm probably rdm due to debuff spells and if it was to get an additional on top of that hmmm im not sure, maybe someone with more FF knowledge could find a more suitable extra.
If they stick to just 1 job then I suspect something similar to scholar but without the whole school/education system scene behind it, again someone with more FF knowledge could point out a job which combines both whm and blm spells.

the entire DoM was messed, boring, sucks and will not fit to the concept '1 weapon for 1 job' system at all
wait a minute, the whole armoury system sucked from the beginning and they need to scrap them, replace with the FF classic job with completely NEW system. Adding new job system and keep the old armoury system together will not make it better and maybe worse

It needs to be one class one job for this to work, and not have in the future 5 magic jobs given to you at once.
I apologize if this has been brought up before, but like the rest of the game, magic classes need a good foundation to be brought up on, and for XIV to succeed.
I mean, I've been here from the beginning but there's a reason it's going to be free for a while. xD

From the people I've talked with, I think the disagreement (over the current system being implemented) is that we don't -want- to be conjurers branching off into however many jobs. No one feels a connection with conjurers, or even know what makes a conjurer. People are also worried about jobs being handed to you, as all you have to do is unlock say BLM or WHM from your 50 Conjurer, and bam, you already have all the game can offer with that.
We want to rank WHM, BLM, and even less common jobs like Elementalist or Sage from level 1, even if they need to be unlocked from a 30 Conjurer requirement quest first. We came to a Final Fantasy MMO because of the community and the aspects of Final Fantasy that we love, including the combat classes.
I for one know that the job system will make it or break it for me, personally.
I can deal with repetitive zones, leves, everything else.
But my connection to the Final Fantasy world, my job, my role I fill in helping my friends... mess that up and I just don't get any enjoyment from it. =/

I understand your points completely, as I am in the same camp. From the people I've talked with, I think the disagreement is that we don't -want- to be conjurers branching off into however many jobs. However, with the information we have there is no "disagreement" on any of those points. All of those things none of us want are whats currently in development.
Edit for clarity:
1. We are being handed jobs.
2. We won't be lvling jobs.
3. Jobs will be branches off of classes.
4. We have information 1-3 from the Devs.
All I was commenting on was that with the little information we do have people are still dumbfounded on how jobs can be added to classes at a later date, which I gave a clear and easy answer too.

Oh, I see.
Clarifying that it can be done, it's definitely true, I just hope to goodness it's not. =/
Adding onto a system that isn't great already is going to come down that much harder later...
I wonder if it would be a good idea to bring to the Devs attention the issues that may arise in the future, before it's too late. ; ;
