Do you think that the DoM will be getting a complete redesign? With info slowly trickling out it would seem the rebuilding of classes may be much more than we expected and I fear DoM may be getting the most radical changes.
So far we know 1 class = 1 job, most classes are pretty easy to guess which class will be which Job but the DoM are much harder to label. Now it has also come out that DoM AOE toggle is being removed. If that is being removed then does that mean each spell will get their own AOE version of it? So Fire is single Fira is AOE and if so then the DoM skill bar will have to huge to accommodate it as stated in the battle reform blueprint:
Well my R50 CON has over 60 skills/spells already and if they are going to add to that by removing AOE toggle and adding actual AOE versions of each spell then that number could be nearer 100. They are going to have to drastically cut a large amount of skills and spells from each DoM to achieve this.Classes
Actions will undergo major revisions, along with both the underlying mechanics and conditions.
By major revisions, not only do we mean the tweaking of effects and potency of existing actions - we will work from the ground up to redesign and reassign actions based on clearly identified class roles.
We will also make a number of changes as part of our reexamination of how actions are equipped and the character requirements for doing so. First, actions learned by each class will be set to the action bar by default when playing as that class. Also, we will be making some actions settable on any class, while other "class-defining" actions obtained at higher ranks will be usable only by that class.
Armed with what we know, what possibilities could this have for our DoM classes and what do you expect them to be when tied to a Job?
Well this would be my take on the whole thing:
CON I believe will unlock BLM as it's job as it's AOE is more suited for nuking and it has all the elemental and Ancient Magic. With this though I believe they will remove all Healing and Buffing magic (Cure/Protect) from the class. They will also possibly remove Ancient Magic and place that on the BLM Job.
If they are adding AOE versions for each spell then I believe they may automatically remove lower tier spells and replace with higher tier ones as you unlock them. So for example as you level up your tier one nukes will swap to tier 2, Fire becomes Fire II and Fira becomes Firaga.
With CON being BLM this leaves THM to be WHM and this will get the biggest changes, it's AOE is suited for a healing and buffing class though. It will lose nearly all of it's current loadout and be given the Heals and Buff's from CON. I believe it will also lose all of debuff's as I think SE will want to save those for a new class/job as the add them to the game. Most likely the Absorb spells will go onto a DRK Job when such class is released. It will retain Banish as that is seen as a White Magic type of spell. Sacrifice will be renamed Regen or kept as Sacrifice and given to CON, though I doubt it will go to CON as then they would be back at square one with it being able to nuke and heal.
As for cross classing the skills I believe they will limit the tiers of the spells you can equip from the other class. So if you were a R50 CON you could use Cure 2 but not Cure 3, you could use Protect 1 but not Protect 2 and so on.
I am not saying this is what will happen but that is my best guess and I would love to hear other peoples opinions of what SE is planning for these two classes as they are being a little slow on the info.
