Consider adding areas to explore with risk in the new expansion

I know that the devs are working on the new expansion. I also know this request has been discussed and know that there are currently no plans to change it at this time.

I would love in the new expansion when it is completed if a set of areas to just explore with some risk could be added. When I say risk I don't mean open world NMs (would be nice though). I mostly refer to the inability to run straight through a zone and survive at pretty much any level.

Example: I wanted to find out what it was like to be a new player so I created 1 archer character and 1 Arcanist character.
In both cases at level 17 (for the archer) and 20 (for the arcanist), I was able to run from the town all the way to Dragon head, then too Mor Dhona and all the way (although Mor Dhona took one extra try as I was not even paying attention) the 2nd camp.

This should have never been possible and really reiterated the lack of risk in the game. I understand there are needs to cover for those not as strong or the casuals, but it is really bad when a character 1/2 to 1/3rd of the designed level can go all that way on foot with pretty much no risk or challenge. This was a real downer and kind of helped me understand why the new players are frustrated due to the lack of challenge.

It is nice that you have some serious end game challenges (eg primals EX and Coils) but beyond those few there is no reason to even acknowledge there are other mobs except to call them decorations. This seems like a lot of resources put into the environment that is wasted as there is no real use for he mobs nor a challenge to get past them. (EG the run in FFXI to get to Jeuno (no I do not want this to become ffxi, this was just an example).

There is risk. If you arent dying it is because you went there too late. Create a Character, walk to outer La Noscea. If you make it there on foot under level 20 then you are a champ. When they add new areas with higher level characters, you can wander aimlessly through there and die at your own will.

I think the OP is referring to Notorious Monsters (or whatever it called in 1.0, I never played it) where you have monsters in the field at like lvl 70 among level 30 mobs. They won't aggro on you if you don't get close but they are definitely an obstacle when trying to get somewhere and that is standing in your way.

Monsters out in the world should pose a threat to the player, feeling like a superhero is boring.

Feeling like an insignificant gnat who is somehow champion of the realm yet can't kill a friggin crab is also pretty boring. Not saying the game is perfect, but the ship has sailed. It wouldn't make sense to just introduce an entire area that changes the mechanics of the way zones and monster aggro works in the game. I too would love an extremely well done exploration/dangerous area to goto, but how long would that even be fun anyway? I don't recall ever thinking "exploring" a zone in FFXI was fun, I thought it was a PITA that I couldn't go where I needed to go because a lvl 150 Ifrit Bunny was in my way.

Basically elite mobs from WoW and perhaps something like a Fel Reaver. I approve.

The concept of "risk" goes out he window once you learn who to avoid and how. Unless SE made a zone that was physically impossible to traverse it could never be truly risky. The same goes with any other game: you either trivialize the threat with your level or you simply learn how to avoid the things that are a threat.

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
