It happened to me with Titan HM and now Garuda EX. I keep on hearing these horror stories about latency issues making Titan HM dodging difficult and wicked wheel making Garuda EX impossible for melees. Yet both of these fights ended up being much easier than I thought.
Perhaps it's because I end up over-gearing for these encounters after hearing how difficult they are. It still disappoints me. >:
these are easy fights, the horror stories your hearing are from people that are bad at the game or have "lag" issues, fights get harder then that i promise

TL; DR This game is super easy! Why you guys so bad at it? : D

I think that's the thing that stands out the most: all the difficulty that the devs have designed into this game if from lack of information. A fight may be hard the first few times you do it simply because you hype yourself up and concentrate on the fight in preparation for the unexpected. But after a few times you realize it never changes, or it never change enough to warrant that level of attention anymore and the fights become very boring.
Pharos is a prime example. People who just try to rush the first boss will tell stories about how difficulty it is, but once you tell them adds spawn based on boss HP (probably tanks always notice this kind of mechanism first) and the explosion comes from the debuff (probably healers notice these kinds first), the fight is a pushover all of the sudden.
And Titan series is just the ultimate of this. Those primals are designed specifically so that when people remember the pattern, they could easily beat the fight. And I think that's the problem. The "hard mode", "extreme mode" may all sound like hardcore stuff, but deep down in its core, this game is still designed for the big masses.
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
― Ernest Hemingway
Most of the time when I did Titan HM, it wasn't the healers fault. The DPS just couldn't dodge for shit or wasn't geared enough for it.In my case, I found Titan HM to be hard at first because I couldn't switch from moving and healing fast enough.
Turns out, I simply had to rearrange the 4 skills I used in Titan HM on my macro bar for faster access.
Then it became a piece of cake. I didn't even had to try to remember the rotation of Titan.
It took me a dozen of trials with different configurations to find out what I was doing wrong.
I think the learning curve of the fight is ok for the majority of players though.
This is actually something that I find strange when people repeat it so much. Healing Titan is a lot easier than DPSing it - especially if both know the rotation. DPS are constantly having to hit Titan while dodging mechanics and that's especially hard on melee who have position requirements and rely on combos. Damage isn't that high from Titan himself, so curing it is basically a lot of afking, then pressing a button, then dodging a plume, then pressing a button, then afk some more... it's mainly hyped up as a "healer fight" because Mountain Buster exists. But, honestly, it's 1 hit of predictable damage - he'll always Rock Breaker before every MB so you'll always know when to prep a cure 2, lustrate, Virus, E4E, etc. It seemed way harder back when it was fresh, but after you beat it you realize just how little work you have to do compared to DPS. Tanking it is even easier, but nobody really says tanking Titan HM is... hard. :P
