I think it's more of the feeling like the Milky Way is merely a flat image pasted onto the sky. The night sky doesn't feel alive, unlike the clouds or the rays of sunlight.One of those looks like a night shot taken outside a town with bright lights and another looks like it was taken in a desert away from civilization so you could get a nice clear shot of the Milky Way.
Not sure what the problem is. I see stars of different brightness in both pictures.
