Battle music during Dungeons... or any fights....make it stop >.<!

It would be awesome if there was an option to turn off battle music while in a dungeon.. You never get to hear the OST of these dungeons once u hit something. I mean they let u turn off mount music to have a more realist feel while traveling around...so this shouldn't be hard to do.

I'd rather them just include the dynamic music from 1.0 (used in Copperbell/Haukke Hard) in all the older dungeons. There's really no reason not to. After Crystal Tower, i cannot fathom playing another dungeon without dynamic music. The whole dungeon will feel like a step backwards. Kind of like Pharos Sirus.

Or just include the option to mute battle music. I'd have done that ages ago if possible.

During a dungeon you do actually have the option to turn your music off, this would fix your issue.
Or is muting your sound between boss-fights too much of an inconvenience?

Personally, when I enter a dungeon now I simply mute the music and play whatever I want to hear instead, whether its FFXIV related music or not.

You have the tools to do everything you're asking for, please use them.

You get a 30-60 second intro at the start of a dungeon, as far as i'm aware the battle track does not cut over this. Pharos Sirius is a good example, if you engage in combat the intro will end and then the battle music will play.
Adding in an option for this is simply a waste of development time and memory when you have the ability to mute it yourself.

System > System Settings > Sound > 2nd Option. [Turn off Music when mounted]

For many of the players though (me included) we like the enviromental music and think it adds atmosphere to the gameplay which enhances our enjoyment of the game overall. Unfortunately it all too frequently gets interupted by the same battle music over and over and over again. The option to disable mounted music is great, we'd like the same for the battle music, that's all.

A lot of the tracks are really short, some even less than half a minute long. They were designed to be intros to areas/dungeons and nothing more, hence why it wouldn't work to just make the music loop in most cases. I remember Soken saying that the reason they made it this way was so that we wouldn't get bored/annoyed with the music. I don't think this is a very good idea personally, but at least I can kinda understand the reasoning behind it. The irony is that what we're stuck with instead, is the same generic battle theme (with small variations) whatever we do, so their thought-process kinda backfired in that respect.

It's a shame really. Personally, music plays a huge part in my video game experience. It helps set the mood, and it gives each area a more distinct feel. Final Fantasy games are known for having stellar music, so I really wish they would reconsider their approach to it in this game.

Dungeons would feel that much better if they left the actual dungeon music playing rather than the same STALE ANNOYING BATTLE MUSIC.

I kinda got used to music looping in FFXI.

Even though it repeated I enjoyed it for the most part, at least in places like The Binding Coil and The Crystal Tower they went for a constantly looping dual layered music track.

Their quality hasn't changed, just the frequency/use like you said.
If I hear 'Promise of Plunder' in a low level of dungeon one more time however I might cut my ears off.

Yes they really need to had more dual music tracks for each dungeon instead of the same music and a the intro music that only last 30 secs.
