The Blizzard forums and Blizzard giving in to all the demands of the crying children ruined WoW. Now the same is happening with FFXIV.

The problem is the forums. It is just a cesspool where all the whiners and trolls come to bash on the game, or complain about the game, or yell at the complainers of the game, etc. etc. etc. Get rid of the forums and do your own thing, SE.

SE is slowly suffering from spinal deterioration following the implementation of these forums. There is still some left, but it is being eaten away.
I really wish they would come to some of these suggestions or complains, even my own, and say 'NO we will not ever do that'. The silent 'no's are getting quite frustrating, or the 'We have no plans to implement this' don't work well enough either. Just say NO damnit.
Then again you cant really say no to a customer request, you have to word it well and use tact or you'll lose customer appreciation... but still, tell us if you arent going to do the suggestion. I prefer that than the suggestion to go completely unanswered.

They have yet to release a cash shop, and the game is still free. No idea what the thread title is getting at.

That is a good point. We still aren't paying for it.
On the other hand, it is also why they go off of every single mass complaint-raid made in the forums. i mean.... we arent paying them to do what we want yet. But they are more worried about customer satisfaction right now.

Are you saying SE was spineless, because Wada caved into investors and prematurely released the game then had Tanaka tank a horde of angry players (and now investors), wiped the raid, and blamed Tanaka for said wipe without a chance to Raise?
And now Yoshi-P is tanking, but is allowing the mobs to dictate how he plays the game?
If only Team Tanaka and Team Yoshi-P could love each other... in bed.

I would hate to think they would do away with AoE altogether and just bring back the "ga" spells for AoE like in FFXI. This is the way I interpreted it anyway. They are changing things to make it more FFXI like. I don't know if thats because they are trying to play it safe, get more players from FFXI to play FFXIV, or thoughtlessly making changes.SE has said no to quite a few things and rightfully so, but even then, lately it's "We'll think about it" to the most pointless of things.
Just recently, for example, the removal of the AoE toggle? UHHHH. WHAT. Why?! It was obnoxious, but a preset such as "remember this choice" per spell or spell type, that would have been much better, but the removal of it all together? So no more AoE? or AoE is now an official lock?
I really don't understand this forum sometimes. This is after all a Final Fantasy numbered title, and not some horrendous western MMO.
They seem to be pretty mindful of their changes and take all things into account. This is why when they make a change it takes so long to develop and actually see a change in game. While it sucks for us to wait so long, it will be the best decision in the long run.
Sorry we're looking into this.
Lol @ people thinking removing AoE toggle = Removing AoE completely. Are you kidding me?
You do remember when they sold us a hollow shell of an alpha phase of a game, like 300k of us bought that back in the first month. I dont know if that requires a spine but to take money like that from paying customers KNOWING you are selling them crap has to take pretty big balls.I really would like to know, looking at the most recent "concessions" they have made, it seems to me like they have no capacity to say no to player demands, ESPECIALLY when those ideas are really bad or replace something that wasn't broken in the first place.
SE's current attitude about appeasing every single person who whines about something they hate in this game is like watching The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya played out in game development form, and frankly, I'm starting to worry that it will turn out the same as the SOS Brigade's film. (Sorry if you don't get the reference, but it was the best analogy I could come up with at 4:30 AM. If you don't get it, google it.)
There is absolutely NO way you are going to please everybody, making a game that appeals to both the casual and the hardcore may well have been the biggest mistake that the devs made, simply because these two opposing camps have radically different opinions of what makes a good MMO.
And so SE I beg you: Learn how and when to tell the players that you will not give them what they want whenever they demand it like horribly spoiled children, even if they throw a tantrum. I believe this game can still be great, but it'll never happen if you keep trying to aquiesce to every single demand that is made on these forums.
I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
