I was thinking about how, once people have coil on farm, we often end up with a lot of spare loot going to waste depending on party composition, what people currently have equipped, etc. Maybe we could have a way to package up unneeded drops from the end game dungeon and have them broken down into high level components?

If the grade of the component is based on the turn it is from and the current highest level turn available to complete, it could open up end game craftable armor, trinkets, and weapons, thus giving crafters relevance in the end game circle without overpowering the crafts. The same system could also be used for end-game 4 man dungeons and possibly CT, though the materials gained from such operations would need some consideration considering how common the gear is. Maybe make the break down process cost gil?
