People are foolish to think that we *need* an official parser. Let us use what we have now and since we run the parties we go with, we'll just kick those who are not up to par (by leaving ourselves). Let those people never know they aren't doing proper rotations unless they take it upon themselves to get better.

...which will never happen. That's how lazy people are.

While that's all good in theory, it doesn't really work in practice. I can go from group to group and have one person in each group that's really just not pulling their weight at all, maybe even doing less dps than the tank. There's no way currently to know to stay away from that person, and take the people with you who are pulling their weight. A parser isn't a "free pass", and is actually a tool that can help people recognize they aren't pulling their weight, or the reason that dps check is failing is because of one weak link in a group that can be replaced.

That's not to say we "need" it.. we don't technically need anything in the game. It would be an extremely useful tool though. Granted, it's going to be abused by some folks, just like ilvl is currently abused by some folks. If it's not something available outside of the pre-made groups though, that cuts down on the random abuse of Duty Finder groups. Any pre-made groups that would abuse it are likely already "abusing" the ilvl currently in game.

I mean let us use LogRep, ACT, FFXIVAPP to find the dead weight and simply eject them from our parties or simply leave, no reason to waste your time carrying people who won't try. Only downside is, if you wanted to help the person who is the weak link you can't because it's harassment.

And I think what the OP is asking for is it not being a bannable offense to tell someone their dps, which I personally don't have a problem with as long as it's not harassing said person. Saying, "Hey, your dps sucks you @#$%ing suck, you should kill yourself" would definitely be abuse. However saying, "hey, your dps is a bit low, what rotation are you using? Ideally you should be at ### to get past this phase of the fight."

I don't really get your argument now anyway. It's lazy to have an in game parser that's within game rules, but not lazy to use third party software for parsing to do the same thing you would with an in-game parser?

I was kind of vague of what I was trying to show but I don't think we need an in-game parser. It would certainly be very helpful for calculating tricky classes' dps (looking at you, SMN) but what we have now is definitely good enough. Although, I heard a rumour that SE already has an in-game parser they just have to turn it on (probably based on the PvP one). If that's the case..just flip the on-switch and ban any 3rd party versions.

I don't really like the idea of it being limited to FC raids. That seems a little unnecessary since you can just use the 3rd party ones, which as long as you don't do non-ToS stuffs, you won't get banned or warned. That and FC members generally don't break down into chronic depression when you tell them they need to pick up the slack.

I feel sorry for your threads Sparda. You want to focus the issue but people like Sub-Xero are just going to debate their existence because ultimately it's the only stake they have in the matter. Well reasoned arguments just make the debate circular because they have a barrow to push and will strawman and generalize and conflate to keep it going. You may as well give up.

Ugh... I guess I need to, for the first time ever, use a TL;DR for my original reply.

TL;DR version of my original reply: Parsers are not the problem, people are. Since parsers will never tell the entire story and people are too stupid to pay attention to what's actually going on, SQUARE ENIX is probably not going to officially endorse parsers since it doesn't fall in line with the stance of "everything is used to harass other players".

Oh and what wasn't "well reasoned" about anything I said in my original reply?

As E-peen stroking goes, parsers are the only legitimate lube.

Man why do you and 99% of the posters in here not get it :/

This isn't about parsing in duty finder or pick up groups, the OP is talking about parsing within our FC's premade raid groups.

If you go into duty finder Titan Story Mode with a parser and start laying into people that aren't pulling their weight then you're most likely scum and should be reported for harassment but my raid group happen to have the luxury of being mature (me withstanding ofc) and the capability to communicate like adults (again me withstanding).

Still don't get it? This is about static raid groups having access to important information without having to rely on third party software.

If we're gonna let the trolls dictate what is/isn't useful in the game and let it restrict access to tools that could benefit our raids then we might as well call it a day right now.

    Thank you.

I don't understand why the rest of you don't get it. There is no harassment or abuse when the tool is made available to a static groups for the Raid leader use only. If you think your Raid leader going to harass you and/or kick you then you are in the wrong group in the first place and should look for a better Raid leader.

Once more, if you have not read the opening post, please do before you start typing.
