There needs to be an in game parser like dc universe online had. It bothers me that there isn't one already implemented by now, but PvP has one.

Seeing as PvP has one, I'm sure they'll add it to PvE eventually. Perhaps 2.3 or even 2.2.

Anyone who thinks you can just learn the mechanics of fights and know how to dodge will make you a good dps is wrong. Twintania, and other fights are dps races which require everyone to be putting in full effort, while effectively cycling cooldowns and buffs, a parser will help show who is lacking those skills, lagging, or just being lazy.

A significant amount of these mechanics are DPS checks, how do you isolate the cause of consistent DPS check failures in a group of 4 DPS without a parser?

Also to add, if you're saying that gear should make dps checks trivial you are right, but underestimate how terrible some DDs can be. There are many players who don't have a clue and no amount of gear will stop them from doing half the damage they should be doing.

In reply to the suggestion, I think it should be extended to all premades which includes PF groups. There are lots of loose groups running hard content outside of any single FC and a premade is naturally a selective group, so it really shouldn't be excluded from these tools.

I don't understand where the notion of casual players hate parsers came from, they don't it's the bad players that hate being called out for their low dps due to not caring about how to play their class properly. Which in a game like ffxiv there is no complexity at all in the dps classes as they all have really easy rotations to follow to maximise damage so there is literally no excuse for poor dps.

So let's say as a BLM I stop to Physick someone because a healer died, the healers were just slow or it just plain ol' needed to be done. That's not going to show up as damage for me in any parser. Bad tank constantly moving the mob around for no reason?... There goes MNK and DRG DPS while potentially "inflating" BRD and BLM DPS. In 1.0 when I was constantly helping heal, stoneskin or making sure everyone had their appropriate songs because other BRD's were too busy playing ARC and saying "songs be damned" that didn't show up for me. In fact, I actually caught flak and got called out for "bad DPS" a few times in 1.0 for those very reasons.

I understand you can't "fix" players and people that do or would antagonize others without having all the facts will do so with or without a parser but SE can control, or at least attempt to control the use and distribution of programs such as parsers which most certainly will be used to "harass" and single out other players.

I consider myself somewhat casual and I don't really object to this.

Actually, now that I think of it, I like the idea of something with which only you can look at your own parser stats. Because that's all I'm interested in. Among FC members or friends there's probably little inhibition to honestly exchange DPS of HPS figures and make decisions based on that. I'd really appreciate some sort of function like this built into the game, because I quite frankly can't be arsed to use a third-party program that I don't trust for whatever reasons, like the site it's downloaded from, etc.

People are foolish to think that we *need* an official parser. Let us use what we have now and since we run the parties we go with, we'll just kick those who are not up to par (by leaving ourselves). Let those people never know they aren't doing proper rotations unless they take it upon themselves to get better.

...which will never happen. That's how lazy people are.

I feel sorry for your threads Sparda. You want to focus the issue but people like Sub-Xero are just going to debate their existence because ultimately it's the only stake they have in the matter. Well reasoned arguments just make the debate circular because they have a barrow to push and will strawman and generalize and conflate to keep it going. You may as well give up.

As E-peen stroking goes, parsers are the only legitimate lube.
