Something interesting for dps in addition to the parser would be to have the excepted dps for your job somewhere near the parser. Since you can already test yourself on the dummy and see if you match the expected dps in a "perfect no movement scenario", they could also add this number for every fight.
Like, let say X fight requires 2000 from a BLM, and the BLM sees his dps is around 1800, he knows he's not pulling enough.

Having a parser is good but if you can't compare to anything else it is useless. how do you know you do good "assuming you're not going on forum or guide to see what dps you should pull, something the vast majority of people don't do"
Also, every job aren't on equal foot with dps. So I support the idea that dps should be purely personal, but we should also know how much we're suppose to pull throughout the fight.

In a way or another, this feature MUST be implemented. tank and healer have a way to know if they're badly performing. Tank see they take too much dmg or can't hold threat or don't position properly or don't do good tank swap, and healer... well they see people die.
As a healer, I know when I fail.
As a dps... well, without a perser, unless I obviously totally screwed up my rotation, how am I suppose to know?

The idea is that you notice by way of failing DPS checks, but since the only content to feature them is 8-man and that means three other DPS can be there to fail too.

On the point of addons; I'm sure the development team would love to do them, but they're really bound by being multiplatform with PS4, as I'm sure others have noted in this thread before. There's a project to hijack the directx context of the PC version of the game to enable addons anyway, which SQEX will surely regard the same as parsers (being against ToS) but since it's doesn't alter the game, it's incredibly difficult to tell that it's being used. Hopefully the eventual release of it will push SQEX a little to take action and at least get a basic real API working.

There exist console games that have built-in mod support. It can be done, therefore I have to assume that the fact SE hasn't bothered to do it (they promised it before ARR launched) and has stopped even mentioning it as something they want to do, that they've decided to go ahead and just break that promise.
