New Quest to teach Tanks what Marking is for. Mandatory Please.

FOR TANKS IN LOW LEVEL DUNGEONS, We know a good player can Hold Hate without marking.

Before I start I have PLD/WAR both 50. And this is pretty much excluding "Speed Run" Tanks and End Game Content"

Anyways I think SE should add a quest that is mandatory for all Tanks. So they can learn what marking mobs in dungeons are for.

As a Tank your job is to keep hate on all mobs you are fighting. But it is very hard to do when you're not doing it correctly. When you have 3 mobs unmarked with DPS who don't know what they are doing, Then keeping hate isn't just making your job harder but harder on the healer. When you can't keep hate that means DPS are taking damage and the healers has to cure not only you but them. If you did your job correctly and marked mobs maybe the DPS would see those big 1,2,3 numbers in their face, essentially making your job easier and helping your healer out. So when you are doing your job, The healer can do their's and if they aren't lazy they could help DPS making the fights go faster.

So Please learn how to mark your mobs, It takes no more than 5 seconds. Make macros if you need to. You can put Marking 1 into your Shield Lob or Tomahawk if you need to.

Sorry for the rant but I heard the Crappiest excuse for not marking mobs today. Been leveling up my SCH and in low level dungeons when I see a tank not marking I say hey can you mark targets and most do no big deal. Was in one this morning and the tank couldn't keep hate and I had to cure way to much (I don't mind it if things are done correctly). I said hey can you mark mobs and the guy says no because he knows other tanks who don't mark mobs in Speed Runs.... WTH are you kidding me? Are we in a level 50 dungeon doing speed runs No! He said that DPS should know which mob to attack and that the only time he seen a tank mark a mobs was in Coils.

I play both Tanks and I don't care what content I'm doing I mark mobs. Sometimes I will mark "one" and then mark them in order after I pull.

Ok so here is what I'm seeing, Since most DPS don't follow marking then why mark at all. And that DPS should have to do a quest on how to follow and that healers should have a quest about over healing. Fine with me.

Then can we have a questline to teach dps how to attack the numbered order correctly?

I used to mark all the time. However, rarely does anyone follow them. Now I just put a single mark up, if that. Even that can be a wasted effort. Thankfully it's not too hard keep emnity on mobs.

I can keep hate on all mobs so I don't mark, unless in specific circumstances where I want a certain monster to be priority.

If a DD or healer really want marks they can do it themselves. Doesn't need to be a tank's responsibility.

Only if you require DPS to actually attack the marked mobs in the order they are labeled.
Only if you require Healers to not over cure.

I like this game, what else can we generalize?

As for "speed runs", I don't tend to mark mobs because they are getting AOE'd to death so pretty much everything is getting nuked all at once, then again I don't tend use PF or DF, but run with friends/LS/FC folks who have been running content into the ground and really don't need thing marked anymore, but that just comes with playing with the same folks over and over again. And if something does hit the fan, who cares, just pick up where you left off and have a good laugh about having a derp moment.

To be honest none of the class quest lines I have done so far do much to teach players their role. It's a bit of a waste.

I used to mark, until I realized no one goes by it almost. Now I just spam flash and let the dps go bananas on whatever they see fit while the mobs scratch my armor. DF style anyways, in a party it is usually different.

I do this for situations like this were tanks don't use marks on enemies. I macro this /assist <2> and fyi your able to change the members list in party menu and moving their name to spot 2 or whichever you chose and once done that macro will target what the tank is attacking making it easier to target and attack.

Are you from an alternate reality? I can count the number of times people haven't followed my marks these last two weeks on one hand.
