The biggest problem with embrace isn't the fairy not always casting, but rather that they don't know how to make good decisions. For example lets say someone missed a high voltage on turn 2 on the nodes leading up to ADS and everyone took damage and got the paralyze debuff. Your pet is going to treat everyone as a number and make a decision not based on the same things that you will. Healing the melee in this case is far more important than healing the ranged because of other aoe's that they will have to dodge. You don't have to put your pet on steady, though there are situations where that is helpful from an aggro standpoint, but scholars looking to move into harder and harder content need to understand the importance of micro managing their pet.

I mainly picked your post because it originally could be taken that you didn't need to help your pet at all which in harder content is not the case. But my post sounded a bit like you always needed to, when I was really just wanting to emphasize that you needed to during harder content. I hope this helps clear up what I was trying to say before.
