    Controller Targeting

I play on the PS3 with a controller. I have been having some targeting issues and was wondering if any one else has been experiencing the same thing I have.

When I pull back on the trigger to select an option from the hotbar, my targeting circle then switches sometimes to a random other target (mob) after pressing X and not the one I originally selected. I have to use the circle button to back out of this randomly selected mob back to the one I want to actually hit. Or sometimes I make a selection from the hotbar and the target circle then switches to me. Again, I have to back out and it'll then go back to my actual target I am fighting.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does this even make sense as to what I'm referring to or is this just simple human error on my part with a controller?

    Thanks!

It sounds like it's registering a D-pad press (without the trigger) first for some reason. Could be that your pressing the button before the trigger registers the press or your controller itself is not detecting the trigger.

    Always remember the Silver Rule:
"Treat others as they treat you!" ...or something like that.

It sounds like you're misunderstanding the target lock system. If you target a monster and click X on it that makes it your primary target. Once your primary target is set, you can change targets, use an ability on another monster and then it will automatically change back to your primary target. It could be a glitch but I've never heard anybody else say this so this is my assumption. Keep in mind you can also set party members, including yourself and npcs as your primary target.

D-Pad keys without holding down either L2 or R2(Or both if you use the additional bar option) will either switch between whatever filter settings targets you have with the left/right and through party with the up/down. So, you could be pressing those without meaning to.

It sounds like you're hitting L1/R1 while holding down L2/R2 to do an ability. When you hold down L2/R2 pushing L1/R1 will allow you to cycle through nearby targets like tab on keyboard. It's great for changing targets quickly, not so great if you happen to hit both at the same time when you don't mean too.
