Making 100k a week on my server is not very hard, but not very easy too. it goes that the amount of time spent is slow increasing as the price decreases.

So for those that don't have as many openings as me, yes it can be hard, but not hard that it's an impossible goal.

Yay, I can put forth to get 1 piece of VIT materia a week and can spend months trying to get housing if I want to be at less than 1k gil afterward.
...Sorry I'm not trying to be rude....

I can tell you after getting our fc house, yes it was incredibly heavy task, but brute force will power can be raised. Sure it's like a weight lifted off our shoulders and much lighter pockets, but it's more a matter of fc business and less on the impossibility of it. Running gil making event and non stop harassment did achieve results.

And yes I do still feel like a highway robbery to get that house.

I don't get it, it just sounds like you don't want to put forth effort to get the stuff you want.

It takes about just as much effort to get the tier 4 materia as it does to get the Gil to buy it. That's why the prices are set there. Housing is it's own beast of an issue.

If you don't think it's worth the Gil then don't buy them.

    Always remember the Silver Rule:
"Treat others as they treat you!" ...or something like that.

If it's housing that's your big issue, and you want a Free Company house bought by yourself, for yourself, for your own use, there's really no mechanic in the game that's going to get you the money you need without a crazy amount of effort, including at a minimum quitting your job/school (or at least playing the game constantly while AT your job/school). FC housing is meant to be bought by a Free Company, and the expectation is that everyone in the Free Company will chip in and help pay. At current costs, only really large FC's can buy a house at all, and even when prices reach their minimum it will require a lot of effort on everyones' part to buy (assuming that SE doesn't crack under the pressure and lower the price further).

If you're worried about saving up for personal housing, honestly I don't think it's soon enough to worry since we don't have any idea what it will cost. I doubt that it will be anything like FC housing, though, either in cost OR in implementation. Don't look at FC housing and anticipate that your own house will be the same way. You'll just wind up disappointed.

If you want to make gil "quickly" sell extreme primals wins. Get a group together that you practice with and fine tune to carry a single person. That or take your chances and try and play the market. Until new crafted items come in 2.2 there will be a dip in easy money making.

Also, you could try some leves. Some leves you can buy the turn in items you need (even if NQ) and turn in and make more gil than the total cost of the item.

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.

You can buy low and sell high.

I have botanist level 50 (though its not really necessary) I usually gather 99 flax seed and sell it for 100 + gil each. Thats close 10k profit

Or you can farm apkallu eggs and night milk on costa del sol or fleece in coerthas. I can usually make 100k a week.

Or you can invest in leveling a crafter, but it'll be VERY expensive, so choose the right 1.

    a) Get 8 friends who have a level 50 fish/miner/bot
    b) Everyone get their pieteskin map for the day
    c) Complete them as a group (all loot going to the person whose map it is)

After finishing the 8 maps you'll make a minimum of 12,800. That doesn't count if some maps drop 5k gil per person, or the shards/etc you'll get. You'll likely make more around 20-35k in gil alone after the 8 maps are completed. It only takes about an hour, too. In a week you'll make a minimum of around 170,000-200,000 gil. That doesn't count selling crystals etc that you might get (or heaven forbid, a bluebird).

I'm a pretty casual player, but it seems to me that SE has intentionally made gil completely unnecessary in this game.
This is sad for the crafters of XIV.
In XI crafted items were more useful and since they were resellable you were much more likely to spend your gil on them.
In XIV I know I can never resell an expensive item so I am much more stingy. This issue will need to be addressed if the game hopes to continue.

Fantastic, (with the exception of Max_Damade) you have all either 1: stated something which is obviously wrong in this day's market. 2: basically told me if I try hard enough, I can get enough gold to try harder to try hard to make gil to get materia 4 OR to spirit bond it myself, but fuck housing you're shit out of luck and we will only bring up the issues in pricing that you have brought up and not think about it on our own.

This has absolutely, positively, outstandingly, graciously, and expertly 100% given me an answer to my question. I will never again question the almost perfect with just a few flaws (like housing) current state of this game's economy. I thank you all tremendously.
