And this thread has descended into people throwing about mindless annoying animated gif images at each other.

The PS2 version of FFXI is still supported in North America. The Seekers of Adoulin expansion itself was not officially released outside the Japanese market. Despite this, the PS2 version for North America has still been patched with all the new equipment, abilities, etc that are part of the expansion. Purchasing the PS2 expansion of SoA simply provides is access to the new SoA areas. The decesion not to release the PS2 version outside of Japan was purely a business decision of course. Why are we talking about FFXI anyhow?

If the PS3 version we're ever to be dropped, it too would for business reasons. Everyone screaming "PS3 limitations" would immediately stop and start saying "PS4 limitations" are "holding the game back." There isn't really a shed of truth to it of course. The term "PS3 limitations" is so ambiguous it can be given as the reason for why anything in the game is the way it is. Despite the claim, the PC version runs at a higher frame rate, and at higher resolutions. It has better lighting and shadow effects. And better physics and animations for character models, as well as displaying many more on screen simultaneously than the PS3 version. And it supports the ability to display more HUD elements on screen at once.

The PS3 version is still very playable of course. It looks and plays fine too. I've put up some parts of Pharos Sirius shown on running on the PS3.
