Force PS3 players to migrate over to PS4 and then drop support for it

Even though looks like a good idea... it will never happen, since there zillions of PS3 already running around while PS4 had just barely started. They did the mistake already so now they have to deal with it.

I logged onto the PS3 version a week ago. It is an absolute disaster. The frame rate stuttered between 10 and 15 in a completely unpopulated zone (Camp Tranquil). The textures were muddy and washed out, enemy and character models would pop in and out at random ranges, and on a 54 inch TV the interface looked like someone vomited on the screen.

It's 2014, and this is not acceptable.

One of two things needs to happen with this game going forward - either the PS3 players need to have their own servers and dumbed down interface/graphics/versions of content, or SE needs to force them to migrate over to the PS4 and pull the plug on PS3 support once the next expansion hits.

Statement: Or just encourage PS3 users to upgrade to an SSD, the console has no issues with 14 after.

Maybe in 3 years when virtually no one is using PS3 anymore and PS4 is cheap.

Why is it that so many think that if you're on ps3 that you can't afford a PC? I don't play on a PC or own a gaming PC but it's certainly not because i can't afford one. I have no knowledge of tech when it comes to PC's. I know nothing about them. That is why i just buy consoles and never bothered to buy a PC. Just put in a game and play, nice and simple, just like me. No nerd stuff to learn, no need to worry if the system can handle it. Just pop in the disc and play, could it be any easier? The only thing that has made me even remotely consider getting a PC was for game mods, other than that, i feel a console is suited perfectly for what i need.

And Mortucus if you have an issue with consoles, you probably should have found an MMO that was PC only. Not trying to sound rude, just i don't think SE will drop support for consoles ever. There are tons of MMO's for PC only players. The search shouldn't be too difficult.

i didnt say drop support i said give them their own servers like duco aka pc players on one server console players on another server

they both have different department's to develop them already just move them into separate server groups
this way pc players cant give out crap and console players get left alone buy the pc player no more blaming them for their troubles

i also stated the age of the tec its old buy any standards ps3 is just oldddddddddddd

if u love console which i used to until they dragged every penny they could out of the last gen then buy the ps4 and come up to date but dont bog down the rest of us with your tec from the early 2000s (never asked or promoted dumping support for ps3)

FF XI flopped because it was pc only... Thats why they remade it and put it on the ps3... Face it not everyone who plays video games plays on a pc, I prefer playing on my ps3 or ps4 It's easier for me to enjoy myself in game...

If you want PC only then go back to XI

Considering they still support PS2 for FFXI, I'd say this is very unlikely, if not entirely impossible. Which is a shame, sure, but to play devil's advocate I'd have to say it was clear going into this (long before official release) that PS3 is a part of FFXIV. Is there a precedent for anything like this anyway, a large P2P Japanese MMO to drop support of a platform that the game launched on? If so, I'd be interested to know how it worked out.
